No matter what may or may not go wrong during the course of the movie, at least Batfleck will look completely fab while doing it. More

I know I’m not the only one who witnessed the internet explode last night when the news broke that Ben Affleck would be playing Batman in an unnamed 2015 film that sounds like a Man of Steel sequel-ish. But let’s back up for … More
Smallville! Metropolis! Lois Lane! Clark Kent! Both of Superman’s daddies! There’s a lot to process in this first full-length trailer for Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel starring Henry Cavill and Amy Adams. More
Obviously Henry Cavill is having the time of his life shooting Man of Steel, Zack Snyder‘s Superman movie. After all, he gets to perform awesome stunts, work with Amy Adams and Russell Crowe… And even with the whole Sucker Punch mess, Zack Snyder is still an imaginative director who brings out fantastic performances. But above all, Henry is genuinely psyched; you can tell that he’s a true fan. More
More goodies from the set of Zack Snyder‘s Superman movie: Photographer Gregory Zonsius caught this video of Lois Lane, a.k.a. Amy Adams, visiting Clark Kent’s hometown of Smallville, Kansas yesterday. There’s no dialogue since a train was passing by, but it’s Lois stopping at a gas station, presumably to ask for directions to the Kent farm. Also — Amy didn’t dye her hair! More
The MPAA’s relationship to sex in movies has always been problematic, but this new bit of information is still pretty shocking: Based on an anecdote that Emily Browning told Nylon magazine about a sex scene cut from Sucker Punch, it would appear that a movie in which the female character enjoys sex can’t get lower than an R rating. However, it does explain why Jon Hamm‘s cameo in the movie is ridiculously small. More
What is it about dystopian futures that are so endlessly fascinating? Maybe it’s the fact that so many of them are actually very real possibilities. That our world could turn into one of these can hit pretty close to home. Now that the news of Jennifer Lawrence landing the role of Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games has had time to sink in, we here at Crushable HQ got to thinking about other dystopian novels we’d like to see on film. There have been loads of successful film adaptations in the past– Battle Royale, Children of Men, Blade Runner, and Never Let Me Go come to mind– but there are still so many that haven’t yet had the cinematic treatment they deserve. So, apparently I’m the only person on the Internet who actually liked Sucker Punch. (Jennifer at TheGloss hated how strangely personal the various tortures were.) Note that I did not love it: The messages about female empowerment and male possession were at times heavyhanded and incredibly confusing. But as I said to my friends when I left the screening, “I wish I had thought up this story.” To have time to play in the world that Zack Snyder — in his first wholly original work — created would have been a thrill.
But the video-game aesthetic of the worlds-within-worlds comes second in criticism to the hyper-sexualization of the five female leads. That was the part of Sucker Punch that made me uncomfortable, because it was often difficult to tell if this blend of sultry strip dancing (more on that in a minute) and ass-kicking were for the girls’ benefit, or for the men who were invariably watching. What has Hollywood done to all our USA superheroes? Batman is limey Christian Bale. Spiderman is the adorable British boy Andrew Garfield. And now the most famous of Americana icons, Superman, will be none other than Tudors acor Henry Cavill, according to the breaking news on Deadline Hollywood. More
Ahh, we can’t wait for Sucker Punch! Director Zack Snyder has called his all-female lead flick “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns.” Which sounds pretty awesome to us. The film stars Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish and Jena Malone and even features Jon Hamm in a non-Draper role. We can’t believe we have to wait until March to see it. More
