The other day I put on heels for maybe the fifth or sixth time in my life, sacrificing my feet to a pair of Olsenboye studded pumps from JCPenney. And I got dumber immediately! Meaning I spent ten minutes trying to figure out how to take a photo of my outfit that captured my shoes but didn’t get the edge of the table in frame. As you can see, I did not succeed.
I’m a tiny half-human and I’ll admit to feeling an instant surge of power after stepping into the shoes. The 3-inch heels made me, like, regular person height. Almost tall even! If Napoleon had been acquainted with Olsenboye he never would have invaded Russia. More
Oh Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, what I won’t do for you two. I was dubious about changing from my normal sneakers into your pink suede Ivy platform boots (part of your Olsenboye line at JCPenney) just in time for Thanksgiving, especially since I was traveling across the country to spend the holidays with my boyfriend’s parents. I mean there is stunt journalism, and then there is relationship-ruining journalism. More
So here’s the deal: I’m going to be taking a flight in a couple hours to the complete other side of the country to visit my significant other’s parents. And yes, spend Thanksgiving with them. Now, besides my hatred of travel-planning, which is it’s own issue, I’m stuck on wardrobe choices. More
After a week of walking around in the classic Ann Taylor pumps, we decided to head towards the other end of the spectrum with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen‘s J.C. Penney line. Because nothing says “Thanksgiving” like 3-inch stiletto pink booties! More
Well we did it folks. Two of our intrepid reporters spent a week in heels (graciously furnished by Ann Taylor). Meghan Keane and Drew Grant, both avid flat-footers, spent a week wearing Ann Taylor’s Perfect Patent Pumps. While Meghan used her heels to fancy up formal occasions like her friend’s wedding, Drew spent the week adjusting the rest of her wardrobe to match a more business-casual ensemble.
The test was to determine how easy these heels were to transition into after a lifetime of sneakers, boots, and the occasional snow shoe. We graded them in several different categories on a scale of 1 pump to 5, and took diligent notes. We asked our friends, coworkers, and fashion websites what they thought. And in the end, we may not yet be heel experts, but we had some surprises throughout the week. Read on to see how we, and the heels, fared. More
It’s been 3 days since I’ve forgone sneakers and decided to give heels a legitimate go. And unlike my last attempt at staggering around in 5-inch stilettos, Ann Taylor’s Perfect Patent Pumps seem to fit me…well…perfectly.
Of course, not at first. More
