After featuring 47 teen mothers with similar stories on the popular show 16 and Pregnant, you’d think MTV would take action and commit themselves to stopping teen pregnancy. That they would use their popular show as a platform to informing teenagers about birth control. That knowing they reach over one million viewers each week would be all they information they’d need to make major changes to their show. But it’s apparently not. More

Did the media make it all up, did she plant the story for attention, or did she have it…taken care of? More
Allie, unlike some of the girls on this show, is actually 16. She lives in Pasadena, Texas, but she hates it. She grew up in New Jersey but had to move to Texas with her dad because her mom couldn’t afford to keep Allie. (This is what we in the business refer to as “foreshadowing.”) She has a boyfriend named Joey who is a sophomore and on the football team, but things are about to get real because – come on, you’ll never guess! – she’s pregnant. A report in this week’s issue of OK! magazine claims that Teen Mom 2 dad Corey Simms is about to become a father again – this time, it’s his estranged girlfriend Amber Scaggs who is supposedly knocked up. “Friends” tell the magazine that Amber (who has a one-year-old daughter, Bralyn, from a previous relationship) confirmed her pregnancy, but hasn’t told Corey yet because they’ve been having problems. Considering that Corey has been bitching about Amber on his Twitter page and advertising himself as being on the market for a new girlfriend, I can understand why Amber would rather speak to a tabloid than to him, but it’s still ridiculously immature. At this point, the intro to a 16 and Pregnant episode is almost like a Mad Lib: “My name is [Name] and I’m [Age that is either 15, 16, or 17] and a [name of grade] in high school. I live with my mom because my dad left when I was little. She was my best friend until I met [name that is probably a variation on Tyler]. Now my dream of becoming a [job that is either nurse, vet, or professional cheerleader] is on hold becaaaaaaaaaaaaaause…. I’m pregnant!” This week’s Mad Libber is Taylor, who is fifteen and lives in Cincinnati. Her boyfriend’s name is Nathan, not Tyler, and they met at a rollerskating party. More
Yesterday, I recapped Kianna Randall‘s episode of 16 and Pregnant, which included Kianna considering adoption but deciding to keep the baby after her then-15-year-old boyfriend Zak said he didn’t want his child to grow up without a father as he had. Zak’s sister Aisha (who wasn’t in the episode) emailed Crushable to say that I had my perception of Zak totally wrong. Here’s what she had to say: More
Kianna is a rising senior in Fort Worth, Texas. Like so many girls on the show, she doesn’t have a relationship with her dad. Her two-years-younger boyfriend, Zak, is a football player, and for like half a second I blinked out and thought I’d discovered a long-lost episode of Friday Night Lights. Anyway, back to the show: girl had her life together, girl got pregnant, girl called MTV, etc, etc. More
>Yesterday, I broke the news here on Crushable that 16 and Pregnant season 1 cast member Ebony Jackson had miscarried her second child. Though I expressed sympathy to Ebony during what must be a physically and emotionally challenging time, not everyone on our official Crushable Facebook page agreed. Commenter Betsy wrote, “I’ve heard one way for teens to prevent miscarriages is to not have sex and/or use birth control. It’s pathetic that these girls are “famous” for being stupid enough to get pregnant the first time. The fact that they’re in the spotlight because they’re expecting again is beyond ridiculous.” More
This week on 16 and Pregnant, we meet Isabella Tovar of Draper, Utah. Sadly, the name of the town does not seem to have anything to do with Don Draper. Izabella is a sophomore at a Catholic school who takes all AP classes and wants to be a doctor. (Cue giant sigh from me.) Izabella’s boyfriend’s name is Jairo (pronounced hi-row) and they’ve been together for just three months. So let’s do this, shall we? More

In her episode of 16 and Pregnant, we learned that teen mom Danielle Cunningham wasn’t the best student in the world – she described herself as being in grade “ten and a half,” but later in the episode a guidance counselor told her that she was technically a freshman and would need at least three more years of classes to graduate. She must have missed the anatomy class, though. A poster on Danielle’s formspring page asked her why she didn’t get her son, Jamie Jr., circumcised. Danielle’s response? “no he came out with it naturally done ya weirdo.” More
Comedian and author Chelsea Handler has a new book out called Lies Chelsea Handler Told Me, and – as usual – she’s not pulling any punches. Though she’s far from the only celebrity to criticize 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom, she does have a very interesting reason for not liking the shows. “I had an abortion when I was 16. Because that’s what I should have done. Otherwise I would now have a 20-year-old kid,” she told the New York Times. More
Looks like Jordan Ward isn’t the only 16 and Pregnant alum to find herself with a second baby on the way. Ebony Jackson, who appeared on season one, and her husband Josh Rendon (pictured together at left) are expecting their second child. Last night’s featured girl, Kayla Jordan, broke the news on her Facebook page, writing, “Congrats to Ebony and Josh from season 1 and 16 and pregnant as they are expecting their second child together! Also congrats to Jordan and Brian from season 3 of 16 and pregnant as they are also expecting their second child!” More
Meet Kayla. She lives in Minnesota and is an athlete, competing in gymnastics and track. It was on the track team that she met her boyfriend, who is a year older than her and has since graduated. Surprise! She’s pregnant. I know, it was a huge shock to me too, because I didn’t catch the entire premise of this show. More
