Aren’t dads the coolest? They always let you stay up for an extra half hour past your bedtime, they’ll watch silly shows with you even though your mom keeps telling both of you that they will turn your brain to mush, and they’ll order pizza for dinner because the most complex thing they know how to cook is toast (and even that doesn’t always work out for the best). Last night’s episode of How I Met Your Mother was filled with just the right amount of shenanigans and shenanigan-flashbacks. Because it’s the week of Halloween, Lily is staying in Farhampton Inn’s “haunted” room. But that doesn’t lend much to the plot. Because Marshall’s road trip buddy sent Lily a text about him accepting the judge position, Marshall is able to set the episode in motion: by separately phoning Ted, Barney and Robin and calling in a “no questions asked” favor. The issues on How I Met Your Mother are dealt with in a variety of ways, but very rarely are they confronted head on. This episode was no different, with conflict aversion at the forefront for each of the characters, allowing for the typical misunderstandings and silly shenanigans. More
We picked up right where we left off last episode: Barney telling Ted he saw Ted and Robin holding hands at the carousel. I was ready for the feud; I was ready for Barney throwing the “bro code” in Ted’s face. This is not what happened. More
Oddly enough, I thought this week’s episode was done much better than last week’s premiere. The story lines made a lot more sense within the plot of the final season and just jived with the characters better, even though mention of the mother was conspicuously absent. More
We’ve finally met the mother! Well, okay. Ted hasn’t actually met her yet. But Lily has! And we know that they will in fact meet at Barney and Robin’s wedding, and return to Farhampton in one year, together. More
There is a point to Ted’s insane weekly ramblings. He is supposed to be telling his kids (and the many fans of HIMYM) the story of how he met their mother. He’s been telling the story for eight loooooong years, and we’ve still never seen the mother’s face. Talk about annoying! More
That was without a doubt the saddest episode of How I Met Your Mother ever. I couldn’t help but feel sorry for Ted as he realized how alone he is in life. More
Well ladies and gentleman, it’s the How I Met Your Mother moment we’ve all been waiting for. Just kidding! We didn’t meet the mother. But still, Ted and Jeanette have finally broken up! More

After last week’s ah-mazing episode of How I Met Your Mother, I had high hopes for this week’s follow up. And well, it wasn’t horrible. The good news? We can rest assured that Ted’s psycho new girlfriend, Jeanette (Abby Elliott), is not the mother. The not so good news? We’re probably going to have to suffer through her crazy for another week. More
Wow! That’s the only word I uttered after watching last night’s How I Met Your Mother. More
