Little known fact: St. Patrick wasn’t actually Irish. In fact, he was captured from Britain as a teenager by Irish raiders and taken to Ireland as a slave. He escaped eventually, but became an ordained bishop in the north and west of Ireland once he entered the Church. Largely known for chasing the snakes out of Ireland, we now celebrate this Patron Saint by drinking heavily on the day of his death. The March of Michael Flatley's Ego Continues With 'Lord of the Dance 3D'

Round about the time that I was growing up, the Riverdance phenomenon hit the world like a many-footed Irish storm, and I’ll admit, I got pretty caught up in it. I’ve always had a thing for Celtic music– my mother has recollections of little Toddler Me kicking my feet in my car seat to the rhythm of Celtic Soujourn on NPR– so this is perhaps understandable. I was a little less taken with Michael Flatley – to be honest, he sort of scared me. He got even scarier when he split off from Riverdance to create Lord of the Dance (not to be confused with The Lord of the Rings), a shirtless spectacle driven solely by the force of Flatley’s own ego.
