Although Cheryl Cole is arguably the biggest star in the UK, her attempt to cross over to America has not worked out. Though she was tapped to be one of the four judges on the US version of X Factor (which she was a judge on in England), TMZ announced today that Cole was let go and is being replaced with Nicole Scherzinger, aka the Pussycat Doll who can actually sing. Across the Pond: The Appeal Of Grand Prix And Lewis Hamilton

A friend of mine religiously watches the Formula One Grand Prix. I personally don’t understand the big deal. It seems the F1 racing season is a long and varied one, the various stages each being held literally every month in a different country (sometimes continent) altogether. That would explain its seemingly perpetual presence on TV and why I think it is always on (because it is). With the results from the series of races combined to determine annual world championships, it’s a hugely popular televised event. My friend’s tangible excitement was something I couldn’t ignore and I reluctantly switched on to see the BBC’s coverage of the F1 Grand Prix Finale held in Abu Dhabi (the last one this year, I am assured). As I watched the careening cars and listened to the fervent commentator with passive insouciance, my interest was piqued by the British hopeful that is Lewis Hamilton. More »
