At this point, the intro to a 16 and Pregnant episode is almost like a Mad Lib: “My name is [Name] and I’m [Age that is either 15, 16, or 17] and a [name of grade] in high school. I live with my mom because my dad left when I was little. She was my best friend until I met [name that is probably a variation on Tyler]. Now my dream of becoming a [job that is either nurse, vet, or professional cheerleader] is on hold becaaaaaaaaaaaaaause…. ‘Teen Mom’ Star Amber Portwood Reportedly Tried to Kill Herself

Every time I think that the original cast of Teen Mom needs to move on and let someone else take their places, something like this happens – a report that Amber Portwood supposedly tried to commit suicide. Amber has had a pretty rough few years following her rise to MTV stardom, most notably when she hit then-fiance Gary Shirley on TV and she lost custody of their daughter Leah. Though Amber ultimately got probation and didn’t have to serve time, she has become more notorious than famous. Yesterday, I recapped Kianna Randall‘s episode of 16 and Pregnant, which included Kianna considering adoption but deciding to keep the baby after her then-15-year-old boyfriend Zak said he didn’t want his child to grow up without a father as he had. There are so many rumors coming from Italy about the upcoming season of Jersey Shore that I’m expecting either a colossal success or a humongous failure. Apparently, despite the fight between Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and The Situation and the fact that Ronnie is back on with Sammi Giancola, MTV’s producers still weren’t happy with the level of drama on the show.

All four original girls – Maci Bookout (the winner of Crushable’s “who is the best mom?” poll) Catelynn Lowell, Farrah Abraham, and Amber Portwood – are back, along with their friends, families, significant others, and – of course – kids. Watch the Amber Portwood-Centric Trailer for Season 3 of ‘Teen Mom’

The new season of Teen Mom premieres on July 5, and MTV has reportedly made four separate preview commercials, each featuring one of the moms – Maci Bookout, Farrah Abraham, Catelynn Lowell, and Amber Portwood. Though MTV hasn’t posted them on their website yet, the sleuths over at The Ashley managed to find a YouTube clip of the Amber-centric trailer. The clip includes Amber telling Gary Shirley that their daughter needs a stable home, Amber and Gary yelling at each other while driving, and Amber telling Gary that he got off scot-free while she went to jail “for no reason.” More »

What Happens to ‘Real World/Road Rules Challenge’ Kids the Rest of the Year?

When I was little, I always thought teachers hibernated in the summer and lived in the teacher’s lounge, because I couldn’t comprehend that they had a world outside of school. And when I watch the biannual Real World/Road Rules Challenge series full of familiar faces, I assume that the contestants from the shows make enough money that they can just keep hanging out on MTV in a sort of perpetual spring break state. But that isn’t the case. Many of the Challenge regulars act so crazy and cutthroat on the show because their lives actually do depend on it – there are too few slots and too little prize money at stake, and it’s almost impossible to hold onto a grownup job when you want to take off two months at a time to go film a reality show in Tijuana. Whitney Purvis was one of the standouts from the first season of 16 and Pregnant – the Georgia teen and her mom were both pregnant at the same time and were facing eviction from their home. Whitney and her boyfriend Weston Gosa matured really quickly when their son – also named Weston – had health problems, and she was a welcome voice on the 16 and Pregnant reunions. ’16 and Pregnant’ Star Danielle Cunningham Has a YouTube Channel, Responds to Circumcision Comments

Last week, I called out 16 and Pregnant mom Danielle Cunningham for writing about her son Jamie Jr.’s circumcision on her Formspring page. Danielle responded to a question about why she didn’t get him circumcised by saying that “he came out with it naturally done.” She responds to that and other criticism she’s gotten in a new video on her YouTube channel. At around the five minute mark, Danielle says, “I mean, there’s a little bit of foreskin on it, but it’s nothing, it’s like a tiny … you don’t have to pull it down to, like, clean it or nothing like you would have if he didn’t get circumcised.” More »

Although Teen Mom 2 star Leah Messer said that she and estranged husband Corey Simms were focusing on raising their twin daughters and not on dating, Corey’s own words seem to say otherwise.
