The Dos and Don’ts of Drama, with Degrassi: Eli’s Play Is… Well, It’s Certainly Dramatic

The Dos and Don'ts of Drama, with Degrassi: Eli's Play Is... Well, It's Certainly Dramatic

It’s opening night for Eli‘s semi-autobiographical play, and while he’s now made Clare the hero, Jake‘s the villain. Plus, poor Imogen is trying to get Eli to like her, but the mercurial playwright (who’s not taking his meds) won’t see her as anything but a shadow of Clare. Outside of the drama classroom, KC sabotages adoption proceedings, and Anya can’t seem to find any sort of career that fits her. (coughLARPercough) Curtains up! More »

The Dos and Don’ts of Drama, with ‘Degrassi’: KC Gets a Guitar to the Face, and Sav’s Hot for Teacher

The Dos and Don'ts of Drama, with 'Degrassi': KC Gets a Guitar to the Face, and Sav's Hot for Teacher

We were right… sort of. We correctly guessed that the new season of teen TV would have a female teacher flirting with a male student. We just assumed it would be One Tree Hill and didn’t even think of Degrassi. But “Lose Yourself” parts 1 and 2 make it clear that Ms. Oh (“Call me Winnie”) has eyes for her student Sav. We can’t wait to see this plotline progress. Elsewhere, KC and Jenna are probably going to break up because they can’t handle Ty. (That, and he cheated on her with Marisol.) In the actual drama department, Clare fears for Jake‘s life while he works on the sets for Eli‘s play… especially when Eli does a creepy laugh and says, “He’ll be out of the picture soon enough.” Um, what?! The Dos and Don'ts of Drama, with 'Degrassi': Hurting Yourself and Role-Playing Will Get Your Crush to Like You

I hate Imogen. I can’t stand her. She’s supposed to be Eli’s saving grace after his break-up with Clare, but in “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” Parts 1 and 2, she just comes off as a bored sociopath. I’ll probably rant about how awful she is in a separate post, so let’s look at everyone else from the two-parter. Poor Clare kept trying to get an interview out of Eli. Zane was hurt after Riley went on a date with a girl and treated him as little more than a friend at his (Riley’s) birthday dinner. Marisol is flirting with KC at work, and worse yet, he’s letting her do it while Jenna languishes at home with baby Ty. Nobody can do anything right this week! More »

The Dos and Don'ts of Drama, with 'Degrassi': Gang Wars and Lesbian Art Dates

Degrassi: Now or Never has begun! Crushable will be posting recaps every Wednesday and Friday — after each two-parter concludes in a shocking and/or sweet way. This week is a little different since it’s the beginning of the season; this recap covers the mini-movie “Spring Fever” and last night’s standalone episode “LoveGame.” In just a few episodes, we’ve got a corpse, a sullied reputation, a public confrontation, and lots of new love sprouting around. Hard to believe that last season’s finale was only a week or so ago in the Degrassi world! More »
