As creator Guil Ty writes in the introduction to the new Tumblr Actors with Action Figures, celebrities face the weird future of not only having their likenesses blown up to forty feet on a movie screen, but also shrunk down to (hopefully) accurate action figures if they play superheroes, animated characters, or action stars. I’ve chosen the cutest shots of celebs interacting with their tiny doppelgangers, though I realize at least half are cute guys. The first stills from the Garrett Hedlund/Kristen Stewart, um, “vehicle” On the Road were released today, and — gasp! 15-year-old me is weeping! — they totally look like ads. Levis and Converse ads, specifically. Maybe that’s because the actors are looking at the camera? What would Kerouac say? Okay, so we might not be the biggest fans of sports movies in the world. They’re full of dumb cliches, or people trying to break through those dumb cliches, even those cliches are ultimately true because that’s what good sports coaches do– serve up cliches in meaningful ways? Who knows, we’ve never played a sport in our lives.
However, there is a reason we watch movies like The Mighty Ducks and The Natural: the really, really hot guys. Can’t spell sports without “short-shorts,” you know! (Yes you can.) Here’s our tribute to the beautiful, muscly men of sports movies. More

Someone this week compared Country Strong to Showgirls, and I couldn’t help but agree. But then again, I loved Showgirls, which is pretty much my favorite bad movie of all time.
