So remember a little while ago when the Fox News ticker got hacked? Well, guess what? It’s a hoax. Just like everything else. It turns out the news ticker stunt was pulled by MoveOn.org to launch their new “Rebuild the Dream” campaign, which is being fronted by Van Jones, the guy who was thrown out of the Obama administration for his extremist views. What’s really remarkable is the lengths to which MoveOn.org went to convince people the hack was real– everything from building the identity of the hacker months in advance to posting a “how I did it” video in response to accusations that the hack was fake. But fake it was, and you know what? I think it could use a drink. And so could every other hoax ever. Don’t you? More

Late on Monday, April 30, a video appeared on YouTube from a person who claims to have hacked the Fox News ticker on 6th Avenue in New York. The message reads:
WE ARE BEING LIED TO. RIGHTWINGERS ARE DESTROYING THE MIDDLE CLASS AND TRYING TO KILL OUR UNIONS. THE COUNTRY IS NOT BROKE. WE ARE THE RICHEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. USA IS TWICE AS RICH AS CHINA. OUR ECONOMY IS BIGGER THAN MOST OF EUROPE COMBINED. WE ARE NOT BROKE. WE ARE BEING LIED TO. WE WILL RISE UP. WE WILL FIGHT BACK. WE WILL SPREAD THE TRUTH.

When rapper and activist Common was invited to perform at a White House celebration of poetry earlier this week, Fox News went nuts, accusing the artist of being, essentially, a cop-killing gangsta rapper. Which is absurd, because Common is one of the most positive and socially conscious rappers out there.
