If you, like me, were planning on going to see The Place Beyond The Pines for your Ryan Gosling fix when it gets released tomorrow — March 29th, 2013 — DON’T DO IT. This is not the movie for you. The Place Beyond The Pines looks so good, you guys. It was written by Derek Cianfrance, the same guy who wrote Blue Valentine, and it stars Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, and Eva Mendes, who are all just great. Cianfrance is not known for writing action and/or crime movies, which makes me think the action-packed parts of this one will not be gratuitous or overdone. The film’s trailer gives you a decent idea what it’s about, but why rely on mere facts when we could use the magic of imagination?
