New ‘Dexter’ Season 6 Promo Invokes God’s Name in Vain

New 'Dexter' Season 6 Promo Invokes God's Name in Vain

Instead of this stylized promo with religious iconography, I would’ve rather my first look at Dexter season 6 be actual footage from the next chapter of serial killer killer Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall). This doesn’t do much aside from give us Hall’s signature wry eyebrow arch and play on words.

Unless… What if the teaser weren’t being glib and Dexter actually finds God this season? As I’ve said before, each season’s pathos comes from poor, perpetually lonely Dexter believing that he’s found someone who really gets him. More »

Video: Dexter Finds His Next Victim — Casey Anthony

Video: Dexter Finds His Next Victim -- Casey Anthony

The photo that popped up after the Casey Anthony verdict — a Photoshop of serial killer killer Dexter Morgan reading a newspaper about Anthony being declared not guilty — was a one-off joke. But the video version of the same scenario is amazing. The editing is fantastic; the reactions are perfectly timed, and the music is so chilling when shown against Anthony’s relief at the “not guilty” decision. All I need is for a sequence set against Dexter‘s creepy violin music, and I’ll be eternally happy. More »

15 Unusual Fictional Fathers for Father’s Day

15 Unusual Fictional Fathers for Father's Day

Ah, Father’s Day: A Hallmark holiday, but a nice idea nonetheless. True, your dad doesn’t have to be a superhero, a badass, or even your actual dad in order to be worthy of celebration (never underestimate the worth of a dad-like figure!), but let’s face it: It would be pretty cool to have one of these unusual dudes as your father. Here’s to these and all the other dads out there. Happy Father’s Day! More »

Colin Hanks Lands ‘Dexter’ Role–Could He Be the Season 6 Big Bad?

Colin Hanks Lands 'Dexter' Role--Could He Be the Season 6 Big Bad?

Dexter season 5 was a bit lackluster, missing the dark humor that made the first few seasons so fun. But with the announcement that Colin Hanks will have a major arc in season 6 comes hope. All we know so far is that he’ll play Travis, an ancient artifacts expert who’s “highly intelligent” and unfortunately gets linked to the latest batch of murders in Miami. More »

Poll: Which Pop Culture Video Parody Do You Find Funniest?

2011 is shaping up to be a great year for parody videos, which is great but also sort of alarming because what happens when we get to the comedy singularity and the parody actually eclipses the pop culture phenomenon it is making fun of? Then what?

Well, no use worrying about it right now! We have stuff on the Internet to watch. Then you tell us which one you like the best. Then Skynet and terminators and I Have No Mouth But I Must Scream blah blah blah. You get the picture. More »

Best Thanksgiving Episodes On TV

 Best Thanksgiving Episodes On TV

Ever since I was little, I’ve been confused by television holidays. I used to think Hollywood wasn’t on a five-hour time difference, but one that was five days off from my own. Why else would Halloween episodes pop up in mid-October, Thanksgiving and Christmas come one week apart, and reruns shown during actual holidays?

Of course, now I know better: even famous people have families, and are given breaks during the season. And even when Thanksgiving episodes of my favorite shows were shown November 19th, that didn’t decrease my love for Zach Morris or the holiday. Here are some of my favorite Thanksgiving-themed episodes to be savored post-feasting. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! More »

Crushable Exclusive: ‘Weed’ Star Alexander Gould On Being a Young Dexter, Family Ties, And Selena Gomez

Crushable Exclusive: 'Weed' Star Alexander Gould On Being a Young Dexter, Family Ties, And Selena Gomez

For anybody who watches Weeds, last season’s cliff-hanger was a real blow to the head…quite literally, in fact, after *spoiler alert* Shane Botwin (Alexander Gould) killed off his mother’s main rival and the secret drug queen of Mexico, Pilar, with a mallet to the skull. And while previous seasons have focused more on Mary-Louise Parker‘s matriarch Nancy, or her eldest son Silas’ (Hunter Parish) love life, this season is shaping up to be all about Shane as the family goes on the lamb after his cold-blooded killing. So how does an actor go from being the voice of the titular character in Finding Nemo to bashing someone’s head in with a croquet mallet (in his defense, he couldn’t find a golf club)? We spoke with Alexander about the darkness seeping into his character, his love of the show, and some possible lady love interests that he wouldn’t mind seeing for Shane. More »
