Ah, Sesame Street: Making television for toddlers palatable to adults since 1969. Not only did it revolutionize educational television, but perhaps even more impressively, it made sure that the parents, teachers, babysitters, and other adults watching the show with their favorite three-year-olds wouldn’t go crazy from its inanity. And what exactly is it about the show that makes it so amazing, however old or young you are? Its pop culture references. Little kids may not know who Isaiah Mustafa is, but their parents certainly do. Let’s take a look at some of Sesame Street’s best pop culture parodies, shall we? You just might learn something yourself! More
Drawing from such classic procedurals as Law & Order, CSI, NCIS, and Murder, She Wrote, Alex Leo came up with this handy guide to guessing who the perp is in the first twenty minutes. Start with one of the middle four questions.
You know which show fits this perfectly? Bones! Every time I recognize an actor — and thanks to my childhood spent reading Entertainment Weekly, I recognize a lot of actors — I know that s/he did it. Every time… More
CSI, Law & Order, Cold Case, NCIS, Homicide: Life on the Street, America’s Most Wanted, COPS… Is it just me, or has there been an overabundance of crime-based television programming in recent years? Sure, crime makes for compelling drama; the whodunnit has been around for ages, and it always sells like hotcakes (which, it may be assumed, is pretty fast). But as with all media consumed by the public, there’s always a big ol’ question hovering over it: How is what we’re consuming affecting us in real life? Given what importance the United States places on the strength of its criminal justice system, this question is especially relevant in relation to all of this crime-based stuff TV inundates us with today. But how can we even begin to answer it? Some folks at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln had an idea: why not conduct a study examining this very thing? More

Last night, Justin Bieber posted this sweet pic of his shiner on Twitpic. Gnarly! You should see the other guy! Just kidding it was a 10-year-old girl asking for an autograph, just kidding it was Justin’s swagger coach when Justin refused to pretend to be a 10-year-old girl again, just kidding…
The truth is actually far more terrifying: More
This time last year Justin Bieber was already a household name at 15. He looked even more like the Childlike Empress from Neverending Story, and nobody knew about a little song called “Baby.” How a year can change (not really) … More
Justin Bieber behind bars with a maniacal glint in his eyes: yesterday’s episode of CSI or fever dream we had last week? Justin’s well-publicized episode of the crime procedural aired last night, and Biebs turned out to be even more of a bad guy than we’d imagined! Justin plays a member of some sort of radical political group who ends up taking a turn for the terrorist. An excruciatingly adorably turn, of course. More
We weren’t aware that CSI was in on the joke of being the most ridiculous show on television, but as this new season promo shows, the writers are fully aware that they’ve exhausted every ridiculous plot device and character in TV history. But now the show about criminal forensic experts who sometimes deal with plushies and vampires (did I hear that right?) are bringing you…Justin Bieber. Have you jumped the shark, CSI? Do you even care? More
