In case you were feeling accomplished in your adult life, I’m about to ruin that for you with news that Malia Obama can, at 15 years old, say that she’s helped produce a Hollywood TV show. More
I’m all for being raunchy and cynical and even controversial if it’s done right. Unfortunately I don’t think Chelsea always does it right. Often it goes past snark and just appears lazy and mean-spirited, or controversial for the sake of being controversial. Whether you agree she goes over the line or not, that’s not the kind of thing that will work on network TV, if you’re male or female. More
In this disappointing TV landscape, what a delight it was to watch the pilot for Super Clyde, a quirky, heartwarming show starring Rupert Grint. It’s one of the best pilots I’ve seen this season. Too bad it didn’t get picked up. More
Some TV writer sat down to watch an episode of AMC’s Mad Men and thought, “I know! What if this was half as long and a quarter as serious? No problems with alcohol or infidelity; just pure, advertising-themed family fun!” And thus, The Crazy Ones was born. More
A couple of weeks ago I wrote about TV’s highest-rated yet arguably lowest-quality series and received impassioned comments about one show in particular — The Big Bang Theory. Last night’s episode of How I Met Your Mother gave me hope. Hope that one day I can come to like Lily’s character again. More
John Mayerappeared on CBS This Morning earlier today, primarily to discuss his vocal chord surgery and healing process. I, along with the rest of America, was more interested in what he had to say about his infamous toolbag interviews with Rolling Stone and Playboy back in 2010, where he offended pretty much anyone with a vagina and also all black people. Tonight is the season 2 premiere of 2 Broke Girls on CBS. The hit show starring Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs as two waitresses/entrepreneurs from very different sides of the tracks was last season’s sleeper hit and now it is anchoring the Monday night lineup. We left off watching these two budding entrepreneurs pitching their cupcake business to Martha Stewart….in a bathroom. Cupcakes aren’t the most original idea but last season provided a ton of business lessons any entrepreneur would appreciate it. More
At this time last year Melissa McCarty had close to no mainstream name recognition. If she was lucky, she would probably get a “are you the one in that show Mike and Molly?” And her husband Ben Falcone had even less street cred. But this year it seems like they’re getting Oscar nominations, TV pilots and movies deals every single day. More
