I’ve got something for you that’s sure to cure your case of the Mondays. Netflix has finally released the trailer for the second season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. We already got a tantalizing taste in a teaser last month, but this is so much more. It opens on Kimmy applying for a job at a year-round Christmas store, which is appropriate because nothing feels more like Christmas than getting a new season of this show. So deck the halls and start planning your binge watching schedule, because the season drops on April 15. (Make sure you get your taxes done first.)
I won’t lie, trailers just can’t accurately capture how great this show is. When I saw the trailer for the first season, it had me worried it wouldn’t be any good, but my fears were quickly assuaged as soon as I started watching. This time around, knowing the context of the characters definitely helped me appreciate the trailer more, although I’m sure when the season actually premieres it will be ten times funnier. Still, we get a pretty good idea of some of the highlights, including Jacqueline returning from South Dakota and needing Kimmy’s help.
It also looks like Kimmy’s might have a new love interest in the form of Sam Page. That has me nervous, because almost every time I’ve seen him in anything (cough, Joan’s husband on Mad Men, cough, Lifetime movies, cough), he’s not the nicest guy. We shall see. But if nothing else in the trailer gets you excited to watch, Kimmy’s song about a bunny and a kitty who are friends certainly will. I want to know the story behind that. Who are bunny and kitty? How did they become friends? Why is Kimmy so invested in them? Alas, I guess I’ll just have to wait and find out.
