So I bet your Oscars poll didn’t include whether or not there would be a surprise appearance from the women who play Dionne in Clueless? Well, that’s probably a good thing because no one was planning on what turned out to be one of the show’s most awkward moments. Shortly after Chris Rock‘s monologue bashing the Academy for it’s lack of diversity in the nominees, the host said he has a way to fix the problem. He then brought to the stage “the new director of our minority outreach program” Stacey Dash. With a spattering of applause from the confused audience, Stacey told them, “I cannot wait to help my people out. Happy Black History Month!”

So why did Chris decide to do a bit with Stacey? It all stems from the outspoken conservative Stacey saying on Fox & Friends last month that BET and Black History Month should be done away with when she was asked what her thoughts were on the Oscars boycott. After her brief Oscars stint, Stacey tried to explain her appearance with a blog post aptly titled “Who is Stacey Dash and why did she just walk across the #Oscar stage?” She goes into a little more detail her previous comments, then talks about her big Oscar moment:
Which brings me to the joke. When they added ME to increase the diversity, I’m sure many black people rolled their eyes. I’m not “black enough,” they say. But guess what? I’ve heard that all my life. I would rather be a free thinking, black than a cookie cutter black who thinks – and votes – just like all my friends
So while many were scratching their heads over Stacey’s appearance, we did get one great thing out of it- this amazing Chrissy Teigen reaction face. Never change, Chrissy.
