It’s a great week for TV previews, my friends. Yesterday we got the confusing yet still super exciting trailer for the fourth season of Orphan Black, and today we get the first teaser for the second season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Not only that, but the two shows will premiere within one day of each other (April 14 and April 15). Actually, more like within a few hours of each other, since Netflix will likely drop Kimmy Schmidt at midnight. What a time to be alive and not in a bunker with a cult leader!
The teaser features our favorite characters Kimmy (Ellie Kemper), Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski) and Titus (Tituss Burgess) getting their supermodel on to mark the end of New York Fashion Week. But instead of Ready to Wear, it’s Ready to Watch. There are references to some of season one’s best jokes, like “hashbrown no filter” and “Peeno Noir” and “stranger danger ranger.” And then at the end the theme song plays. So have fun singing it in your head for the rest of the day and probably all weekend as well, considering you won’t be able to stop yourself from rewatching the whole first season because you’re so excited.
I have to say, as fun as it is to binge watch whole seasons of shows on Netflix, waiting longer between seasons is not as fun. It’s been almost a year since Kimmy Schmidt premiered, and it will be more than a year when the new season starts. That’s a long time to wait between seasons, even more so because the episodes aren’t spread out over several months. It’s almost enough to make me wait a week between the new episodes instead of watching them all in one night like I did last season. Notice that I said almost enough. I’ll probably end up watching the whole thing twice in the first 24 hours, let’s be real.
