Rejoice! The Stars Hollow-sized hole in our hearts will be filled in 2016. After months of speculation, Netflix confirmed today that Gilmore Girls will be coming to the streaming service with new episodes this year. They announced the return with an adorable Instagram reading, “From Stars Hollow to Hartford to New Haven to Netflix. Welcome back, girls. An all new season of Gilmore Girls coming to Netflix in 2016.” Expect a lot of Netflix and Chilton jokes filling your timelines very soon.
Netflix got in an A+ “Oy with the poodles already” reference, too.

Lorelai Gilmore, sorry Lauren Graham also confirmed the revival on Twitter.

Besides Lauren the episodes will bring back Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop, Keiko Agena, and Sean Gunn (But what about JESS?!!). Original producers Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino will also return to write and direct all of the episodes. Variety reports Netflix is calling it “the final season” so we will have to mourn it’s loss once again after we get these new episodes.
The news of the series’ revival was first reported back in October by TVLine who said it will likely return as more of a miniseries with four 90-minute episodes. This month we got even more clues about the Girls‘ return when the Stars Hollow set looked like it was getting spruced up for some new filming to take place. And now only 29 days into the new year, we get this news. God bless the Gilmore girls.
