Jennifer Aniston is starring in a new movie called Cake, in which she plays a woman suffering from chronic pain after a car accident. The role required her to put on a few pounds, and Jennifer made the incredibly brave decision to sacrifice exercise to make this happen. This comes on the heels of news that she didn’t even wear makeup for the film. I’m pretty sure the Academy is setting her Oscar aside as we speak.
At a screening of the film last night, Jennifer spoke to Q&A host Jason Bateman about what she did to prepare for the role, including answering a fan question about how she gained the weight:
“I knew that was coming,” she replied. “I basically just didn’t work out for two-and-a-half months. I stopped working out and I stopped being as careful about my diet as I normally am. I was still healthy, but I’d allow more.”
By “stopped being as careful,” I’m guessing Jen means she added some low-fat dressing to her organic salad. After all, this is the lady who described her experience of eating a Big Mac as “like putting gasoline in a purified system.” (For me it’s more like putting more McDonald’s into already-existing McDonald’s.)
And then there’s the whole not working out thing. Two and a half months, huh? Not to brag or anything, but I’ve got Jennifer beat by several months. And I don’t just allow “more” into my diet; I allow everything. On a regular basis. All cuisines are welcome in my belly, from burgers to pizza to more burgers. If you looked in there, you would almost certainly find a license plate or two, a la Jaws. So why, pray tell, was I not offered a role in this movie? A movie, I might add, which is named after one of my favorite foods? My entire life has been leading up to this role! Talk about stealing my thunder, Jen.
Kind of like you did to Monica that one time. Nope, still not over that.
