Chris Pratt Was So Adorable At Yesterday’s Cubs Game That You’ll Forgive His Bad First Pitch

Chris Pratt Cubs game singing September 2014

Just in case you’ve been on some sort of zero-pop-culture-news diet in recent months and are only recently catching up on what you’ve missed in the celebrity world, allow me to inform you that Chris Pratt is adorable. He’s America’s newest sweetheart, and I for one am very excited. Need some (more) proof of his adorableness? Look no further than his appearance at yesterday’s Chicago Cubs game. That’s baseball, by the way. Since you’re on a celebrity blog I figured I’d clarify just in case.

Chris threw out the first pitch, and he continued the grand celebrity tradition of being really bad at it. Granted, it was probably better than both 50 Cent and Carly Rae Jepsen, but it still didn’t go where it was supposed to. You can watch it over and over again — if that’s your style — in the video below.

But even though Chris didn’t take my breath away with an impressive pitch, he still charmed my pants off. Before today he was mostly just charming my socks off. It was getting to be quite inconvenient, actually. Just when I thought my socks were firmly on my feet, I’d read another story about Chris visiting a hospital or something and suddenly they’d be gone. Now I’ve just stopped wearing socks altogether, which means another article of clothing has to go, and unfortunately it’s the pants. But you know what? It’s worth it, because it means I get to watch Chris sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the 7th inning stretch. And it’s summer, so who needs pants anyway?

I’ll warn you that, like Chris’s first pitch, his singing isn’t exactly marvelous. But he makes up for it by actually seeming to enjoy himself. That’s the thing about him — he always looks incredibly happy to be where he is, whether it’s an interview or a charity appearance or a red carpet. And it feels genuine, too, which makes it infectious.
