Taylor Swift Hid A Little Dig At Harry Styles And Kendall Jenner In Her New Song

Taylor Swift dancing in ballerina costume in Shake It Off video August 2014I knew that this new mature Taylor Swift whose only concerns were her post-gym outfits and giving advice to her fans couldn’t last long — it looks like the drama-drama one who uses songs to take potshots at old boyfriends is back. Hurray!

Taylor premiered her new song ‘Shake It Off’ via an annoyingly long but disturbingly likable livestream, and the first time through the song and the video, I was too distracted by Taylor’s clever concept and wide variety of costumes to notice much else. But the second time through, I listened a little more carefully to that little rap section in the middle (Taylor loves a good spoken interlude), which goes a little something like this:

“My ex man brought his new girlfriend. She’s like ‘oh my gosh’ I’m just gonna shake.”

Pretty normal so far, right? Could be about any or all of her ex-boyfriends! Well what about this next part, which seems to point pretty specifically at one person in particular that she’s dated:

“And to the fella over there with the hella good hair. Won’t you come on over baby, we can shake, shake, shake.”

If this were just me puzzling it out on my own, I probably wouldn’t have made the connection that Taylor was referring to Harry here, which is where Hollywood Life comes in. They have a source who insists that the ‘hella good hair’ remark refers to Harry Styles, meaning that his new girlfriend that he brought was Kendall Jenner.

“She has a line that is very specific to Harry. When she talks about her ex bringing his new girlfriend that’s Harry and Kendall.”

There it is! There’s that shade we’ve missed so much! Welcome back, Taylor! We’re glad to have you.

Alexis… Hollywood Life came out a few hours after that and said a “reliable source” exclusively told them its definitely about Jake Gyllenhall? Because Jake has Hella good hair too, Right? Come to think of it so did Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer and wow the Kennedy kid, who well, had freekin American Royalty HAIR..Its definitely not about the mop top British kid. Could be about Ed Sheeran and his new girlfriend. I think she is a closet ginger lover?

Whaaaat How weird? Yeah they do all have really good hair. Except John Mayer. I reject that.

this is why we can’t have nice things taylor

welcome backckck, TSwizzie! love to hate ya, gurl

    • Bad Dad

I still really like the video! Glad she can shake it off, even if there might be a little ambiguous dig.

      • Kelly

I think the whole song is a meta-dig. It’s so freakin’ catchy, even if you hate her, it’ll be stuck in your head.

    • Napoleon

She is obnoxious. Her ex-bashing combined with her Miley Cyrus-esque propping of black people makes me hate her more.

      • Kelly

Didn’t think I’d see one of those “TAYLOR’S VIDEO IS RACIST!” people in the wild. But here we are. Haha… “propping black people.” I guess she was also propping every other race in there. THOSE WHITE BALLERINAS! PROP!

      • Napoleon

I don’t think I ever recall calling Taylor Swift racist but keep trying.

    • Janelle

but…but…she invites the boy with the hella good hair to come shake WITH her. How is that a dig?

*the moment you spend too much time on a Taylor Swift lyric*

    • Kelly

I don’t get it. If you listen to the song, she says “My ex man brought his new girlfriend, she’s like oh my god. But I’m just gonna shake! And to the fella over there with the hella good hair, won’t you come on over baby we could shake, shake.” So isn’t that two different guys? Or am I interpreting it wrong?

10th time swifty’s bangs needed to pull it the eff together, this video.

Why make it about a man when she’s making it about herself? This song is genuinely about empowering herself, and crap websites like Hollywood Life probably can’t swallow that bitter poll because they exist solely to print garbage lies just to get views. It’s insulting to me personally, for a woman to song about empowerment and people still making it about a man.

      • Hi

thank you for using your brain thank you! i swear everything about taylor is about her bashing some dude i mean, just because a line is rumored to be about people, it doesnt mean the whole song is!
