9 Roles Chris Pratt Should Play Now That He’s A Big Movie Star

Chris Pratt Guardians of the Galaxy

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Chris Pratt is kind of a big movie star now. It’s a little unexpected for the guy who plays dumb Andy Dwyer on Parks and Rec to become a big-budget action hero, but it happened. And if you’ve seen Guardians of the Galaxy, you know that he can totally pull it off. It also helps that in real life he’s pretty likable as well.

So what’s next for Chris now that he’s made it big? For starters, in keeping with his blockbuster streak, he’s set to star in 2015′s Jurassic World. But what about after that? Well, to look forward, let’s look back — specifically at some of our favorite existing characters whom Chris would totally be able to pull off should a remake or sequel or prequel or what have you comes around the bend. You might think it’s unlikely, but this is Hollywood we’re talking about.

1. Han Solo, Star Wars

There was something very Harrison Ford about Chris Pratt’s approach to playing Peter Quill, aka Star Lord, in Guardians of the Galaxy, and now I kind of just want to see him play all of Harrison’s famous roles. He’s got the swagger and the heroism, with an added sense of humor and the occasional dumb moment. If a new Han Solo were ever needed (obviously not in the ones they’re filming now), I volunteer Chris.

2. Indiana Jones

I promise this whole list won’t be Harrison Ford roles, but the comparison just really fits in my mind. I can totally imagine Chris wearing Indy’s famous hat, and he would totally sell the “Why did it have to be snakes?” line. Guys, why hasn’t this happened yet? Make this happen!

3. Kristoff, Frozen

Chris already did an animated voice for The Lego Movie, but what about playing the live-action version of an animated character? I know Kristoff’s Once Upon a Time counterpart has been cast already, and Chris is probably too old, but he just fits for the character. He looks a little bit like him and has the right personality. If it were opposite Kristen Bell as Anna it would be adorable. (Sorry Jonathan Groff. You’re still great.)

4. Rick O’Connell, The Mummy

Brendan Fraser’s character in The Mummy had a very Indiana Jones feel to him, and that’s probably why I thought of him. (I just want Chris Pratt to play Indy, okay?!) And since Brendan isn’t really the star he used to be (Does anyone know where he is? Is he okay?), if they ever make a follow-up, maybe change things up and give it to Chris.

5. Robin Hood

Yeah, I know Chris isn’t British, but neither was Kevin Costner, and he didn’t even bother trying with an accent. But hey, maybe Chris would be really good at it and blow us all away? And if it were a Men in Tights sort of comedy, it would work even better.

6. Anybody in a Western

Leonardo DiCaprio Quick and the Dead

Anyone else dying to see this guy in a leather duster and a cowboy hat, maybe in a duel or robbing a bank? Make it happen, Hollywood!

7. The Cowardly Lion, The Wizard of Oz

Let’s move away from the action hero kinds of roles and into something a little closer to his Andy Dwyer persona. Just try and tell me this wouldn’t be the most perfect, adorable casting. Nope, don’t even open your mouth. You know it is.

8. Any Kid Trapped in an Adult’s Body

Speaking of an Andy Dwyer persona, nobody can play innocent and childish quite like Chris. But since he’s 35 years old, the closest he can get to playing an actual child is if he did a “trapped in an adult’s body” type of film. Like Big.

9. Truman Burbank, The Truman Show

I doubt anyone will be remaking The Truman Show any time soon, since it was pretty unique and special, but I think this is a great example of the type of role Chris could convincingly take on that would cause people to take him more seriously, since it did so for Jim Carrey. It’s exactly the kind of “innocent guy corrupted by society” character that Chris could pull off, and there’s plenty of humor amidst the drama.
