It’s So Cute Kendall Jenner Thinks She’s A Model In Spite of Her Fame, Not Because Of It

Kendall Jenner black and white modeling GIFIt’s a lucky thing that Kendall Jenner is pretty, because she sure isn’t smart. The girl seriously thinks that she’s gotten work as a model not because of her fame, but in spite of it. Oh Kendall, you beautiful little simpleton.

These little gems of obliviousness came out of a recent interview that Kendall did for her cover with LOVE – the one where she’s not only inexplicably topless (as usual!) but also wearing a fur hood, just to piss even more people off. Anyway, I was already primed for this to be a great interview, because I love it when any member of the Kardashian-Jenner Family talks, but it exceeded even my wildest dreams. She claims that the fact that her name is recognizable didn’t help her…that it actually hurt her. And she’s willing to say this out loud, because she’s just that oblivious.

“People think that this [success] just came to me. But it didn’t. What I have has almost worked against me. I had to work even harder to get where I wanted because people didn’t take me seriously as a model. Because of the TV show. I went on castings and some people weren’t feeling me because of my name. But it was great when people didn’t recognize me. I was like, ‘Thank you. Please don’t recognize me.’”

GIRL. I see where you’re trying to go with this, but hold on for a second. There’s a difference between you being embarrassed of your family (correct) and insisting that being a part of that family hasn’t done you any favors (incorrect). Their money, their brand, their connection with E!, their relationship with Kanye West, the fact that they didn’t make you go to high school! — all of these factors contributed to your ability to step right into the modeling world and onto the catwalk for a brand like Chanel.

Kendall is undeniably gorgeous, but she’s no model. All it would take is thirty seconds of her modeling next to professionals like Jourdan Dunn, Karlie Kloss, or Cara Delevingne to prove that you need more than an eighteen-year old body and a beautiful face to succeed in that industry. You either have to be incredibly aware of how to take a good, engaging picture, or famous enough that it doesn’t matter. But yeah, tell me again how you telling Kim Kardashian not to come to your fashion shows is you doing this on your own.

”Kim was invited to a lot of the shows that I was in. She called me before and was like, ‘Hey, I was invited to the show, I just wanted to let you know. Do you want me to come?’ and I was like, ‘No.’”

Good for you, Kendall. Would you like an award? I was thinking a medal with CHECK YOUR PRIVILEGE on it in script. Let me know where I should send it.

Actually, I TOTALLY believe that people didn’t take her seriously as a model because of who she is. I just don’t believe that stopped anyone from hiring her.

      • Alexis Rhiannon

        Absolutely agreed.

I think that is exactly WHY they hired her. Her connection with the show: free publicity on the show when they name drop the brand 90 times in 30 minutes; her name itself being associated with their brand; she posts about it all the time (which is ok as far as I’m concerned she’s getting paid for it). Knowing all of that I’d hire her for her mediocre at best modeling too.

Wouldn’t it be really smart if people hired her in the hopes that Kim would come to the fashion show………………………………………………………………….?

      C’mon, Kendall. Use your head.

      • Alexis Rhiannon

        Gotta limber up those brains.

    • Elyne

Seriously? Like common it’s the only reson they hire her, her name and family connections.

what in the world…. I’ve sad this before and I’ll say it again, it takes a lot to be a successful model. You have to have personality and grace as well as talent. Kendall is just a pretty face, when it comes to the serious stuff that Victoria Secret or a Chanel model

I think she wants a cookie, not a medal. Or maybe a cat. Or a cake!

OR, maybe she wants a cat wearing a medal and holding a cookie-decorated cake! Because apparently, she wants to eat it, too. (The cake, not the cat or the medal. Seriously, don’t eat the cat, Kendall).

Never thought I’d see the day where I defend a Kardashian but I’m feeling some sympathy here. If Kendalll wanted to follow the family into similar reality tv style projects then I’d be rolling my eyes at this sort of speech, but given that (as you’ve said) acting requires quite a bit more skill than simply being pretty I definitely think her name would work against her. She could never do a serious photo shoot, no matter what I’d just see Kendall Jenner and all that comes with the name.
