It’s a lucky thing that Kendall Jenner is pretty, because she sure isn’t smart. The girl seriously thinks that she’s gotten work as a model not because of her fame, but in spite of it. Oh Kendall, you beautiful little simpleton.
These little gems of obliviousness came out of a recent interview that Kendall did for her cover with LOVE – the one where she’s not only inexplicably topless (as usual!) but also wearing a fur hood, just to piss even more people off. Anyway, I was already primed for this to be a great interview, because I love it when any member of the Kardashian-Jenner Family talks, but it exceeded even my wildest dreams. She claims that the fact that her name is recognizable didn’t help her…that it actually hurt her. And she’s willing to say this out loud, because she’s just that oblivious.
“People think that this [success] just came to me. But it didn’t. What I have has almost worked against me. I had to work even harder to get where I wanted because people didn’t take me seriously as a model. Because of the TV show. I went on castings and some people weren’t feeling me because of my name. But it was great when people didn’t recognize me. I was like, ‘Thank you. Please don’t recognize me.’”
GIRL. I see where you’re trying to go with this, but hold on for a second. There’s a difference between you being embarrassed of your family (correct) and insisting that being a part of that family hasn’t done you any favors (incorrect). Their money, their brand, their connection with E!, their relationship with Kanye West, the fact that they didn’t make you go to high school! — all of these factors contributed to your ability to step right into the modeling world and onto the catwalk for a brand like Chanel.
Kendall is undeniably gorgeous, but she’s no model. All it would take is thirty seconds of her modeling next to professionals like Jourdan Dunn, Karlie Kloss, or Cara Delevingne to prove that you need more than an eighteen-year old body and a beautiful face to succeed in that industry. You either have to be incredibly aware of how to take a good, engaging picture, or famous enough that it doesn’t matter. But yeah, tell me again how you telling Kim Kardashian not to come to your fashion shows is you doing this on your own.
”Kim was invited to a lot of the shows that I was in. She called me before and was like, ‘Hey, I was invited to the show, I just wanted to let you know. Do you want me to come?’ and I was like, ‘No.’”
Good for you, Kendall. Would you like an award? I was thinking a medal with CHECK YOUR PRIVILEGE on it in script. Let me know where I should send it.
