You might be a little down right now, considering it’s Monday morning. Maybe you’re tired from all the partying and/or Netflix marathoning you did this weekend, and that third cup of coffee simply isn’t doing the trick. If that’s the case, then have I got the perfect pick-me-up for you! There’s nothing quite like watching Rumer Willis sing about the importance of sunscreen to the tune of an Ariana Grande song to start your week. You’ll notice very quickly that a more appropriate title for this video, rather than “SPF,” would be “WTF.”
I’ll try my best to explain what in the world this is, but I can’t guarantee you’ll understand it any better. It comes from The Battery Company and features Constantine Rousouli, Jake Wilson (who also wrote and directed it), and of course Rumer Willis. The “of course” part there is debatable. It’s a parody of Ariana Grande’s song “Problem,” featuring Iggy Azalea. Okay, parodies are fun. But what I’m trying to figure out is how “I’ve got one less problem without you” translates to “You gotta rub that SPF on.” I’m just… failing to see the connection. Is this what parodies are now? We just take a song’s tune and put whatever lyrics we want to it? Somebody help me out here.
Don’t get me wrong. SPF is very important, and I’m glad Rumer is helping those shirtless men out by rubbing it all over their pectorals like that. Although it doesn’t look like she’s putting any on herself, which worries me considering she has such a fair complexion. Meh, I guess maybe she put it on before the video started. And my oh my, those choreographed dances are very impressive. Amazing how they can keep their backwards baseball caps from falling off through all that gyrating.
Here’s Ariana’s song, in case it helps at all. (It doesn’t.)
