In case you, like me, were wondering where Freddie Prinze Jr. has been all these years that he hasn’t been warming your bed and/or your television screen, apparently we can blame Kiefer Sutherland. CURSE YOU KIEFER SUTHERLAND.
Freddie was at Comic Con in San Diego this past weekend, presumably doing a late round of press for Scooby Doo, which is the last thing I can recall seeing him in, and for whatever reason, he completely lit into Kiefer as being the worst person ever. ABC News was there, and they quote him as saying:
“I did ’24.’ It was terrible. I hated every moment of it. Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world. That’s not me talking trash, I’d say it to his face. I think everyone that’s worked with him has said that.”
Um, maybe they have, after a couple glasses of wine in their own living room, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard anybody call him out on the record like this. Plus, Freddie shot his arc on 24 all the way back in 2010, so what’s triggering the word vomit now? How bad could it have possibly been?
“I just wanted to quit the business after that. So, I just sort of stopped.”
I knew I had someone to blame for the sudden extinction of my childhood crush, I just didn’t realize that someone was Kiefer Sutherland. Too early to mount my steed and go charging off into the sunset, seeking revenge? I should probably at least wait until Freddie is done bashing him.
“I went and worked for Vince McMahon at the WWE for Christ’s sake, and it was a crazier job than working with Kiefer…but at least he was cool. And tall. I didn’t have to take my shoes off to do scenes with him, which made me do. Just put the guy on an apple box, or don’t hire me next time! You know I’m 6 feet and he’s 5’4″.”
Whoa, SHOTS FIRED. Bragging about your height? Blaming a known asshole for being the reason you quit acting? What did he ever do to you? (And be specific this time.)
