5 Things You Should Know About Shia LaBeouf’s Arrest Last Night

Well hey there, Shia LaBeouf. Long time no WTF. If you were wondering when and where Shia would work his way back into the news through his erratic behavior, the answer is last night at a performance of the Broadway musical Cabaret, during which he was arrested. The topic might come up in conversation today and over the weekend, so here are five things about the incident you should know before you launch into that chat.

1. Shia was apparently smoking and causing a disturbance in the theater.

According to Page Six, at around 9:30 PM at the Studio 54 theater, Shia was “slapping people on the behind and in the back of the head while smoking.” Obviously that’s pretty disruptive behavior, and when cops arrived, he was reportedly “incoherent” and “agitated.” Law enforcement sources said he tried to get away from the cops but “fell flat on his face.”

2. He was allegedly in tears as the cops arrested him.

Some witnesses claim Shia was crying while being handcuffed. In a now deleted tweet, composer Benj Pasek said, “Just saw Shia LaBeouf in handcuffs in tears surrounded by 6 police officers outside of CABARET the musical. Oh New York, u is a crazy b—.” One Instagram user also uploaded a photo of Shia during the arrest by the back door of David Letterman, which is nearby to where the play was being staged.

3. At the station, he allegedly cursed at officers and used a homophobic slur.

Shia was taken to the Midtown-North station house, where Page Six reports he “allegedly became belligerent, demanding the cuffs be removed.” Sources say he told officers, “F–k you. I’ll f–k you up!” When he allegedly started spitting, cops put a face mask on him. According to sources, he also used a homophobic slur, saying, “I have millions and millions of dollars and attorneys… I’m going to ruin your career.” He then allegedly called a cop a “f-g.”

4. He was charged with criminal trespass, harassment, and disorderly conduct.

You know, in case you really want to impress your co-workers today with your in-depth knowledge of Shia’s arrest. You can also add that, according to one police source, Shia smelled bad and also lied about being in the Army. I wish I could say I was surprised. They’re reportedly holding him overnight, and he’s likely to face a judge this morning.

5. Some witnesses suspect it was an act.

Two women who were in the audience during the show told CNN affiliate WABC they thought Shia was putting it on. One of them called him “brilliant” and said, “I thought he was working on a role or something.” It certainly wouldn’t be surprising, considering this is the guy who showed up to a red carpet with a bag over his head and did an art exhibit that was just him crying at people.

What a jerk. Pretty sure his real name is Shia LaDouche.

I don’t think this is a ploy anymore. I think the guy is losing it and needs some serious help. It sounds like he might be on some pretty hard drugs actually. I feel bad for him.

Yeah something really weird seems to be going on with him.

I can’t tell if he’s pulling Joaquin Pheonix or if this is an Amanda Bynes type situation. Either way, his people need to get control of him.

I don’t think this is going to end well. This is beyond an act. Joaquin Phoenix didn’t get arrested as far as I can remember. This is sad and someone should convinced him to get help ASAP!

I think the joke has been over for quite some time. I really feel terrible for him. He seems to have some psychological issues.
