Even though she just started working with them, Selena Gomez has reportedly fired her brand new managers and hired another team. And in case this story already sounds familiar, it’s because she did this exact thing a few months ago when she fired her mom and stepdad as managers. This is trouble, guys.
They’d managed her for pretty much her entire career when she abruptly dropped them, with reports alleging that they found out they were fired the same way we did — from the internet. At that point, she moved to Direct Management and began working with Steve Jensen and Mark Kirkup, who are employees there. They also manage Katy Perry, but apparently they weren’t up to Selena’s baffling standards, because she’s allegedly kicked them to the curb after just a month of working together.
Pretty head-spinningly fast, no? But wait, there’s more! According to reports, Selena has already hired someone new – Aleen Kesheshian, who also manages the careers of people like Jennifer Aniston, Natalie Portman, Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana and Laura Linney. Hopefully she’ll stick with them for a while, but I have a feeling that she’ll be parting ways with them soon to take up with someone new.
And if you’re wondering why I think that, it’s because I’ve seen this before, and so have you. Selena’s going through the same patterns that many celebrities go through in their downward spiral. They start behaving erratically, distancing themselves from longtime employees and family members, assuming that they’re the reason their career is stalled, when really usually they’re their own worst enemies. We’ve seen it with Amanda Bynes, we’ve seen it with Britney Spears, and we’re seeing it now with Selena.
I’m sure that Selena’s fans will find ways to explain away her behavior, but the bottom line is that this girl is telling us quite loudly that something is seriously up with her.
