Daniel Radcliffe Is Pulling An R-Pattz And Crapping On The Project That Made Him Famous

Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter putting on his glasses GIFDaniel Radcliffe just said in an interview that the early Harry Potter movies are ‘hard to watch’, so did one of you let him come into contact with Robert Pattinson?

I left specific instructions that those two weren’t to be anywhere near each other, because Rob had such a contagious case of firstus projectus insultus, but the virus has jumped to a new host so I HOPE YOU’RE HAPPY. As you probably recall, we first became aware that Rob was afflicted with this disease when he started talking shit about Twilight, the project that made him famous. And now we’re seeing the very same signs of illness in DanRad, who in an interview with The South Bank Show blames his own poor performance on the fact that the studios never hired an acting coach:

“If we had a singing scene we had a singing teacher come in. If we had a dance scene a dance coach would come in. We never had an acting coach in all the time we were there and there were times we could have done with one. I know I could have.”

Well I guess it could be worse, because Dan is calling out himself for being crappy, rather than the movie, which is what R-Pattz did, but still. We’re in dangerous territory.

“There wasn’t a lot of nuance to my performance when we were young and I find those early films very hard to watch personally. There were certain things I just didn’t know. There were certain things like how to break down a script, or even certain questions like what does a certain character want out of a certain scene.”

Caaaaareful buddy! You’re teetering right on the edge of insulting the franchise! Come on back! Come owwwnnnnnnn back!

“I never wanted to be one of those people that turned round and had to be disparaging about what they had done in the past in order to make a career for themselves in the future.”

There he is! Dan Radcliffe’s inherent politeness saves the day again, even in the face of certain Pattinsonian peril.

He’s always one of my faves and TBH the first 2 HP movies are hard for me to watch anyway

      • Alexis Rhiannon

Yeahhhhh I tend to agree with you.

    • capoupascap

Well…..the first 2 are pretty terrible but, frankly, I don’t think all the blame can be put on the child actors. While I totally hate when actors complain about previous projects I really feel like here he was only critiquing his own skill, which I really don’t mind as much since he isn’t throwing anybody under the bus but himself. And I think Daniel developed into a really good actor, and I’m so excited to see Horns because i loved that book.

      • Alexis Rhiannon

Yeah, I agree! I just got nervous when I was first reading it like caaaaaaareful Daniel! Don’t do this! But he brought it back around.

Fully agree (as you can see by my pic, I am an HP fanatic)-SS and CoS are the two that I tend not to watch, even if a marathon is on. And I have to agree with Dan on this one-the acting by him (not to mention rupert and emma) was rough. PoA is when things got really good.

      • capoupascap

Oh I 100%agree that POA was where it got good. And I’m a huge HP fan too. I personally believe it’s because Alfonso Cuaron embraced the grittier, darker side that HP has, where Chris Columbus did not. And I think by then the kids had matured a little and had a lot of practice by then so the acting got so much better.

I saw on one of those shows where all three of them were like “We had never acted, we were terrible, we know it, but I don’t regret it”.

      • Lackadaisical

Well, that is true of the other two, but I could have sworn I saw Radcliffe in a BBC adaptation of David Copperfield before he was cast in Harry Potter

      • JenH1986

A quick IMDB search confirms this! I wonder why he said that on the documentary? Hmmmm

      • Lackadaisical

I remember at the time that a bit of fuss was made of him in the UK for being the latest cute up and coming child actor so that when his name was announced as Harry Potter a lot of people here knew who he was and thought it a good fit and were unsurprised to see them pick a kid with experience and glowing reviews.

to be fair, Dan didnt crap on the projects, he was just critiquing his acting skills, which if you watch the 1st few, you can agree with that; whereas Rob basically said the films were awful & so was the story (which i completely agree on but i get why it’s lame to say that)

      • JenH1986

Right? If it’s so lame, why agree to do it?

      • JC

Because it’s different for a member of the general public to have a negative opinion, in contrast to the actor that became rich and famous from the project he bashes. If he didn’t like the story then he shouldn’t have taken the roll. I agree that Twilight is lame, but it’s shitty of him to say its lame but cash that check anyway.

      • JenH1986

        That was my point.

Way off-topic, just that it’s a Rob-related thing… Today I read a Kristen&Rob shipping tumblr that claims that they’re still together, have gotten married in the meantime, her weight fluctuations were a well-hidden pregnancy, they have a secret daughter named… oh, lemme stop now.

So they spin all of this as “Hollywood’s best-kept secret”. Which… hey man, I’m all for crazy celeb theories, but these fans really REALLY believe all of this. Like truly, truly. And it freaked me out so much, cause it was a mix of fake sightings, old red carpet appearance gestures, a handful of nothing that’s become like religion to them.

      • Alexis Rhiannon

Oh my goddddd seriously? What’s the name of it, I’d love to cover that.

      • Lackadaisical

So they think that a woman who is constantly watched by the media and has her every move analysed for our gossiping pleasure is capable of having a child and raising it secretly? They also think that the two of them care that much about us not knowing about a supposed relationship continuing that they would actually want to keep their marriage and baby a secret? I am going to guess that their secret daughter has the same name as their characters sprog in the film and they have in fact mistaken their favourite film for reality.

The acting in the first two was pretty terrible, and he’s actually a pretty good actor nowadays. He seems very thoughtful about his performances now, so I forgive him

I think Daniel Radcliffe is just too talented to be in movies like this. https://vidd.me/CgU
