[UPDATE] Tracy Morgan’s representative, Lewis Kay, released the following statement on his client’s condition:
“Tracy remains in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. He sustained these injuries in an accident that occurred early this morning as one of several passengers in a chauffeured SUV returning from a tour date in Delaware. His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care. We don’t anticipate much of a change in his condition today but will provide a further update once more information becomes available.”
Tracy Morgan, the well-known comedian famous for his work on SNL and 30 Rock, is reportedly in critical care at a New Jersey ICU at the moment, as a result of a car crash involving multiple vehicles on the New Jersey turnpike. A limo bus, which was carrying Morgan and six other passengers, collided with tractor-trailers around 1 a.m. this morning.
After investigating the crash for most of the night, state police have verified that one of the trucks most likely caused the accident. It is being reported that at least one of the other passengers in the limo bus has died. Tracy, who underwent a kidney transplant in 2011 after his health declined due to a longtime struggle with diabetes, was apparently traveling home following a stand-up performance at a local casino.
Should further details become available, we’ll update this story accordingly. In the meantime, our thoughts are with Tracy, his family, and everyone involved in this tragic accident. Fingers crossed for good news as the day goes on – what an unfortunate situation.
