50 Cent Says Beyonce Used To Hardcore Defend Jay Z, So What Happened In That Elevator?

Beyonce black and white snapping GIFI thought 50 Cent might end up going down in history (or at least my brain) as that old treasure from 2005, but he just gave an interview that shed some very interesting light on the dynamic between Beyonce and Jay Z.

Unless you live under an enormous pop culture rock, you remember that last month, footage was leaked of Beyonce’s sister Solange attacking Beyonce’s husband Jay Z in an elevator. Obviously you can tell by the previous sentence that that was quite the conflict of interest for Beyonce, so you could understand why she might not want to get heavily involved. After all, who does she defend? Her sister or her husband? Without any audio on the footage, we have no way to know what happened and if anyone was clearly in the right or in the wrong before punches started getting thrown. (After that point, I’m placing the blame squarely on Solange, because violence is never the answer.)

But in case that wasn’t confusing enough material to sort through, 50 Cent is adding even more layers to it, by recalling a story in an interview with Power 105.1 about Beyonce getting in Fiddy’s face to defend her husband at a party in Las Vegas because she thought there was some kind of beef between him and Jay Z.

“One time [Beyoncé] jumped off of a ledge and came running over cause she thought me and Jay had issues. And I’m like, ‘What the fuck? Did she really just jump and run up on me like that? We was at the Cosmopolitan. She jumped out and was like this, ‘What?! That Bonnie and Clyde forreal! You try this or what, boy?! I’m here!’ She bugged out at me. I looked and Jay starts laughing. He’s like, ‘Yo, you know what it is.’ I said, ‘Oh shit! What the fuck y’all got going on, man?’ Bey jumped down off of that joint like, ‘What?! Wassup?!’”

Aside from the fact that 50 speaks like a maniac, this is super interesting. In that case, Bey just thought that the two guys had issues, and she was ready to have Jay’s back. But when she sees him getting railed on by her sister right in front of her, she wasn’t trying to calm Solange down, or even gesturing at all, really. She was just standing there letting it happen. Watching.

Does that mean that this marriage could seriously be falling apart? And more importantly, how is it possible that our biggest clue yet just got delivered by a detective as accidental as 50 Cent?

She wasn’t just standing there. She was smiling…

Yeah, somthing has gone seriously awry. At the same time, I don’t really think it matters, because we’ll never know. B is ride-or-die with Jay at this point, so no matter what has gone wrong, I think they’ll go on as if nothing happened. I could be wrong, but I’d be surprised if they broke up.

Agreed. Classical case of “Cad’s fighting when ended is soon mended”.

Go shorty, it’s your birthday. We’re going to party like its your birthday. I hope that’s in everyone else’s head too. Misery loves company.

I tried my hardest to understand. But I got it. I totally love his video narrative of the fight. Anyways, I think he knows b or at least has an idea of what is going on.

This is a totally different dynamic than with her sister though. that’s her SISTER. 50 Cent is no one to her. I would absolutely freak out on someone if they approached my husband like that, my brother I’d be more cautious. Not because I think either deserved (and I absolutely would step in) but because it’s two men I love. But knowing that I was about to walk out of an elevator with hundreds of people, most who were just trying to get a photo? I’ve grown up in the music industry where I have to “perform” regardless of what’s going on? I might not react that way either. Plus Jay seemed remarkably calm. I definitely think there is trouble in paradise, for a couple who is notoriously private they’ve been very out there with their appearances etc. but I got the impression that this happens a lot since they both seemed to not react to Solange at all.

Yeah, you could be right. I’m an only child myself, so I’m not fully aware of how the loyalties would break down in that situation.

I think it depends. My husband and brother have had words (though it’s never come to blows) and I’ve always avoided choosing sides unless one of them became inappropriate (they both have) and then it was more in a “IDGAF who is right, that’s not ok!” I would intervene if my brother swung at my husband or vice versa though. But no one but the cops and my family cares if we throw down.

I totally believe Bey said the quote exactly like 50 recited it. Sounds like that Texas bamma speak.
