If you’re anything like me, you get a little twitchy if you go for too long without being exposed to the brilliance that is Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. And since it’s been literal months since the Golden Globes, I’ve been getting a little twitchy lately. Just some sensitivity to light and trouble sleeping. Nothing that a quick dose of the duo won’t cure.
Which is why it’s excellent timing that a preview was just released of the two of them paired up to roast Don Rickles. Set it to play and just feel the relaxing waves of humor rolling over your body. That…sounded sexual, but it’s not. It’s just a minute of comedy that gets you all teased up for the full thing, coming soon. (This isn’t helping.)
Like I said, it is woefully short, but even in less than sixty seconds, these ladies are able to jam-pack some humor in, with Tina first pretending she didn’t know that Don was actually in the audience. Amy corrects her and points him out, and Tina goes:
“Jesus. I thought that was somebody’s purse.”
Yessss. I love it. And lest you think all their jokes are right up on the surface, they do a pretty good job roasting the patriarchy (delicious on rye with a little bit of wholegrain mustard) as well, making light of the fact that they were only invited to bring some variation to the largely white, male crowd:
“So here we are because they thought it was important for Don to be honored by at least one woman — which apparently is what we count as.”
Zinnnnng! Tina jokes that they only sent one car for the both of us, asking if they would’ve sent half a car to Jerry Seinfeld, and oh how we all laughed together and waited eagerly for the entire special to air! If it isn’t soon, I anticipate my Tina&Amy withdrawal tremors to come back in force. Oh good — Wednesday, May 28th at 9:00pm. That should do nicely.
