If I could choose one Hollywood BFF right now, I think it would have to be Shiloh Jolie-Pitt. Sure, she may only be seven years old, but I feel like she has her shit together way more than other grown-up actors, and I kind of want to get in on the friendship ground floor so I can see how mature and wise she becomes when she’s my age! And besides, if Taylor Swift can have friends who are way younger than she is, then why can’t I?
Anyway, while most seven-year olds are doing exactly what their parents tell them and competing with their brothers and sisters for more attention, Shiloh is doing exactly the opposite. She’s creating her own gender neutral, mini-Ellen DeGeneres sense of style, jet-setting around the globe, and just generally scorning the interfering of her meddling parents, like when Angelina Jolie asked her if she’d consider playing Young Aurora in Maleficent:
“I asked Shiloh about being Aurora, and she laughed in my face. She said she’d be a horned creature.”
You guys, I’m obsessed. I AM OBSESSED. I can’t handle this image even a little bit. Laughing in a face already gets me every time, but the fact that it’s a seven-year old and she’s like ‘LOL MOM NO I CANNOT DO YOUR MOVIE SOME OF US HAVE REAL JOBS AHAW HAW HAW’ has me genuinely giggling at my desk. Particularly because many of her siblings did the movie! Most of them, in fact! Pax has a part, Zahara has a part, and Vivienne took Shiloh’s sloppy seconds to play Aurora (for three thousand sweet clams a week, I might add!) because all the other kids were too afraid of Angelina to act alongside her.
“My little Vivienne – we call her my shadow, because there’s nothing I can do to shake her. I can be tired, I can be grumpy, I can be in a terrible mood, and she doesn’t care. It’s ‘Mommy, Mommy,’ and she’ll cling to me. We knew that she would still do that thing, she’d still smile at me and insist that I pick her up. So we couldn’t really cast anybody else.”
Yeah, when asking your children to join you in a movie, it’s always important to cast one who won’t laugh uproariously into your eyeballs at the mere suggestion.
