This Is A Trailer For A Rom-Com Parody With Amy Poehler And Paul Rudd, AKA What More Could You Want?

You should be very thankful today, because someone has made your dreams come true by creating a romantic comedy parody movie starring Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd, and there’s now a trailer you can watch for it. That someone is named David Wain, and he directed the movie, called They Came Together. You might have seen his movie Wet Hot American Summer, which also starred Amy and Paul and a million other hilarious people you love. This new flick looks very reminiscent of that, with the added bonus that it makes fun of rom-coms, which are the most fun things to make fun of.

The plot of the movie, which premiered at Sundance earlier this year, sounds a lot like You’ve Got Mail. Amy’s character owns a small candy shop and Paul threatens to put her out of business with his big chain store. But of course lots of cute montages and lovey-dovey moments ensue. It’ll be interesting to see whether the joke can remain funny for longer than a two-minute trailer, but since it stars Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd, only the two most adorable people on the planet, I’m not too worried.

And it’s not just Amy and Paul. There’s a whole gaggle of other awesome stars, including Ellie Kemper, Cobie Smulders, Adam Scott, Christopher Meloni, Bill Hader, Ed Helms, Jack McBrayer, the list goes on. There’s nothing like an adorable supporting cast to complement a couple of adorable stars. And when those stars are doing things like dressing as Benjamin Franklin, juggling fruit, and falling down staircases like the cute clutzes they are, you can’t really ask for anything more. Unless the “anything more” is Tina Fey being in it. That would be totally acceptable.

Wet Hot is my most favorite movie of all time so I’m very excited for this. Also, to brag a bit, I went to a public Wet Hot screening in NYC a few years ago and Amy and Paul came and I just watched them watch the move. Best night of my life!
