Nick Offerman And Megan Mullally’s Thoughts On Working Together Will Make Your Heart Smile

If I could be a third wheel in any Hollywood relationship, it would hands-down be with Nick Offerman and his wife, Megan Mullally.  Second only to everyone’s two favorite work wives, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, of course.  But seriously, Nick and Megan might just be the most adorable, in-loveiest couples around.

The respect and admiration they both have for the other’s talent and work is probably pretty rare in a “Hollywood” marriage.  The fact that they actually enjoy working together on-stage is probably pretty rare too.  The two are starring in a serious play together at the moment, and Nick compares it to playing Ron Swanson and Tammy 2:

“When Megan came on Parks and Rec as Tammy 2, that was kind of a watershed moment for me where we were treated like peers, like a team.  Up until that point I’d felt like Megan’s student and fan.  So once that happened, those particular roles required a lot of trust and vulnerability to go to horrifyingly deep places, especially with our tongues. So I feel like we’ve graduated to a level where we can look at each other and jump off any cliff together.”

The only way my husband would ever refer to himself as my “student” would be in mastering the art of slathering Oreos in peanut butter (a treat I learned from Lindsay Lohan in The Parent Trap, if you must know), so needless to say I love hearing him refer to his wife as his teacher.  And if you’ve witnessed Ron and Tammy 2 firsthand, you know all about those “horrifyingly deep places” and you love them.

Megan is equally gushy about working with her bearded Brawny man of a husband:

“There is a nice sort of security working together, but I also feel like we’re more relaxed.”

Not to bring this back to myself again, but I work with my husband too and let me tell you, the sea of padded grey cubicles we spend 40 hours per week in aren’t quite as relaxing.  But it’s fun to have a buddy during the commute, ya know?

Bottom line: Nick, Megan, call me.  I want you both to be my teachers.
