Jennifer Lawrence was a bridesmaid at her brother Blaine’s wedding recently, which is totally adorable and she looks beautiful, don’t get me wrong. But she also looks like she’s wearing a wedding dress, which has me a little confused.
The wedding was documented in the ‘Real Weddings’ section of Martha Stewart‘s magazine called, appropriately, Weddings. And let me reiterate again, it’s so adorable, and everyone looks great and happy and everything. If I could make a chalk drawing like Mary Poppins and jump into it, I’d already be sipping champagne and housing wedding cake with J-Law, believe you me. I just can’t imagine I’d have drawn the wedding scene with white bridesmaid dresses, y’know?
I’ve always heard that you shouldn’t upstage the bride at her own wedding, and I feel like being the most famous person on the planet and wearing a dress that’s the same color as hers is a great way to do that. Don’t you think? And beyond that, it creates a dangerous potential for some sort of romantic comedy-esque mix-up where the wrong lady goes down the aisle and the priest is confused or drunk or something and accidentally marries them! He’s near-sighted after all, and as soon as he saw an ivory-clad lady coming at him, he launched right into the vows and they were man and wife before they knew it!
It would be called Brother Wife, and I think it’d honestly clean up at the box office. Especially if J-Law was in the lead role. But it’s also the kind of caper that could easily be avoided if you just threw Jenn into a jewel-toned gown so mistakes like these don’t even get close to happening. I’ll have to assume it didn’t, since I haven’t gotten any Google Alerts about Jennifer being married to her brother, but I think we can all agree we came dangerously close.
