Ariana Grande set out to clear the air regarding the Sam & Cat controversy that’s happening at the moment, but ended up making things more confusing. Apparently, the Great Nickelodeon Scandal of the Decade (there aren’t very many) is neither about the lingerie photos of Jennette that were leaked online nor the fact that Ariana makes more money than Jennette. Because, according to Ariana, that rumor isn’t true. She took to Twitter yesterday to remove her name from the mud that it had been previously dragged through for (indirectly) being the reason the show is over.
I hate addressing rumors and I hate gossip but this is really bothering me. Jennette and I agreed upfront (cont) http://t.co/E8LjX1pLq1

The message continues on TwitLonger as follows:
“I hate addressing rumors and I hate gossip but this is really bothering me. Jennette and I agreed upfront that we would be treated equally on this show in all regards (as we should be, considering we each work just as hard as the other on this show). The rumors circulating about our contracts and our salary not being equal are absolutely ridiculous and false. I don’t know who’s putting these idiotic quotes out there but I thought I’d straighten it out and try to end this nonsense. As far as the show goes, I don’t know what’s happening because I’m not directly involved with the problem but I just wanted to address this one rumor in particular because I am NOT making more money than my costar, nor do I think I should be. So we can all move on and get out of our heads that this was a money thing cause I don’t play like that at all. I am, have always been and always will be about equality and fairness.”
I thought that an unsolvable disagreement over pay was a pretty tame reason for the show to be cancelled. But now that we know that it isn’t about that, my imagination is running completely wild. If not for money or the photo leak, why was the show cancelled and why did Jennette boycott the KCAs? What does it all mean?!
I don’t think I’ve ever before cared so much about why a Nickelodeon show is no longer on the air. It’s like I’m a new person these days. I’m doing things like racking my brain trying to figure out behind-the-scenes Nick secrets and making my bed in the morning. It’s madness! And Ariana has just made me infinitely more curious without even meaning to. So, I guess I’ll have to cancel my plans this weekend because I have a tin foil hat and list of conspiracy theories with my name written all over it.
