The 13 Best Celebrity Tattoos In Existence

It's so beautiful Happy Endings

Yesterday in honor of the return of America’s Worst Tattoos, we brought you a list of celebrities’ worst tattoos. We included misspelled Italian and wives’ faces and Pooh bears. But because we’re all about balancing out the negative with the positive here at Crushable (when possible), it’s time to talk about all the good tattoos celebrities have put on their bodies. Shout-out to commenter FemelleChevalier for the idea!

At first I wondered if there really were enough good celebrity tattoos for an entire post, because I’m generally a little tattoo-shy and celebs make so many bad decisions. And then I thought about it and realized that a lot of celebs have pretty good taste in ink, especially if there’s some kind of meaning behind the designs they choose. Obviously celebrities are free to get whatever they want tattooed onto them, but when there’s some significance to it I tend to like it more. Also if it’s not Winnie the Pooh. Seriously, Kate Gosselin, what the actual hell?

I realized after putting this list together that it’s almost 100% female, which was totally unintentional on my part. Maybe famous ladies just have better taste in tats. Feel free to add your own suggestions.

1. Angelina Jolie’s Coordinates

Angelina has multiple tattoos, but my favorite is the one on her arm that features the coordinates for all of her children’s birthplaces. Since her children were born all over the world, and she has so many of them, it makes a lot of sense. She also revealed the the seventh coordinate is Brad Pitt’s birthplace, which normally I’d be wary of since WHAT IF THEY BREAK UP? But I’ll put away my cynicism.

2. Selena Gomez’s Roman Numerals

Selena got inked on the back of her neck in 2012 with the Roman numerals for ’76, which happens to be her mom’s birth year. As someone who gets very emotional about pleasant mother-daughter relationships, I’m totally touched by this.

3. Demi Lovato’s “Stay Strong”

In addition to being a constant inspirational reminder to Demi whenever she looks down at her wrists, these tattoos are also significant because they cover scars from when she used to cut herself. I don’t think a tattoo could get any more powerful than that.

4. Kesha’s “Suck It”

I just love Kesha, and I’m amused by even her weirdest antics. This inner-lip tattoo is just so fitting to her personality, and it’s obviously the perfect place to put it. Unlike Miley’s weird sad cat emoji, this one makes a lot of sense to me.

5. Nicole Richie’s Back Wings

I just think these are really pretty and tasteful, and they’re placed beautifully on Nicole’s shoulder blades. Fly away, Nicole! Fly away and be free!

6. Rihanna’s Isis

I almost put this tattoo on the worst list, but the more I looked at it the more into it I became. Not only is it a tribute to her late grandmother who passed away from cancer, but it also fits so snugly under her breasts that I can’t help but admire it.

7. Adele’s “A”

The tattoo on Adele’s neck behind her ear (which you can see here) is presumably in honor of her son, whose name we’re pretty sure is Angelo, but which she hasn’t revealed publicly. You can’t really go wrong with a tasteful tribute to your baby, especially when you’re as awesome as Adele.

8. Eve’s Paw Prints

When I think of Eve, I immediately think of her paw print boobies, and I think that’s awesome. It’s her signature, and it looks sexy peeking out the tops of dresses. I approve.

9. The Lord of the Rings Cast’s Elvish 9

The cast of the Lord of the Rings trilogy had such a powerful experience making those films and became such close friends that all nine members of the Fellowship of the Ring (Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan, Billy Boyd, Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom, Sean Bean and Gimli scale double Brett Beattie) got the same Elvish number 9 tattooed on them. Yes I’m a geek, and yes I’m obsessed with this. That’s Elijah’s tat up there. P.S. Director Peter Jackson got an Elvish number 10. AHHHH.

10. Whatever Cate Blanchett Got After the Oscars

The day after the Oscars, Cate Blanchett and Amy Adams went on a double date with their guys to a tattoo parlor, and Cate walked out with a bandage on her wrist, presumably with a new tattoo under it. I don’t know what it is, but since it’s Cate Blanchett I’m sure it’s fabulous.

11. P!nk’s Barcode

No, this doesn’t mean you can scan P!nk at the checkout counter and buy her. She got it to celebrate the release of her album Missundaztood, and the numbers apparently represent her birthdate, the release date of the album, and the lucky number 13. Plus it looks funky.

12. Penelope Cruz’s “883″

Nobody knows what these numbers on Penelope Cruz’s ankle stand for, and I am so intrigued by that. She got it back when she was dating Tom Cruise, although it might not have anything to do with him. I just love that she’s got that little secret.

13. Emma Stone’s Blackbird Feet

Not only is this tattoo totally adorable, but it was drawn by Paul McCartney so it’s automatically awesome. Emma and her mother’s favorite song is “Blackbird” by the Beatles, so to celebrate her mom being cancer-free in 2010, they got matching blackbird tattoos. Emma wrote a letter to McCartney asking him to draw the bird feet for her, and he did!
