In Upsetting News, Zac Efron Was Reportedly Attacked In A Rough Part Of Los Angeles

TMZ has some scary and disheartening Zac Efron news this morning. They report that, according to law enforcement, he was in the rough Skid Row area of Los Angeles after midnight on Sunday and was hit in the mouth by “a sketchy transient.” This is bad news not only because Zac was involved in a fight, but also because according to a source he was “obviously intoxicated. This is an area where cops are “on hight alert for drug deals and gangs.”

You might remember that Zac went to rehab last year and wore his six-month sobriety chip from AA in public last December. The fact that Zac was in such a bad area of town known for drugs and was reportedly intoxicated doesn’t sound good, but before we get into the implications of the incident let’s talk about the info TMZ has. Cops on patrol under Harbor Freeway reportedly saw Zac in a fight with at least three people. He was accompanied by someone he identified as a bodyguard.

Zac reportedly told cops they had run out of gas and was sitting in the car waiting for a tow truck when they threw a bottle — the contents of which were not identified — out the window. It apparently smashed on the ground next to some transients. Zac reportedly said two of the transients attacked his bodyguard, and when Zac got out of the car to help he was hit in the mouth. He reportedly said, “It was the hardest I’ve ever been hit in my life.” No one was arrested because it was “mutual combat.” TMZ makes sure to point out that Zac also broke his jaw last year after, according to him, slipping in a puddle of water.

I don’t think I need to go into why this whole incident sounds pretty suspicious. If Zac was indeed intoxicated, that’s certainly not encouraging news. All too often celebrities complete rehab and seem to be doing well, and then disheartening news like comes along. If this incident was as sketchy as it sounds, and if Zac was intoxicated, let’s hope he’s able to get the help he needs so we don’t hear any more scary stories like this.
