Oh thank God, I was so worried that the universe and Twitterverse and Tumblrverse might be forgetting that whole “Adele Dazeem” flub from the Oscars but now I know she’ll live on forever. No, I’m not being facetious at all because I still watch the Vine clip of said flub pretty regularly and it’s been three weeks.
And while that may be slightly sad news that aptly reflects the status of my social life, the good news is that Idina Menzel is completely on board with all of the GIFs, Vines, and overall tomfoolery that’s surrounded John Travolta‘s epic mistake. She said that as far as she and Jorm–er, John–are concerned, things are all good in the hood:
“He was really gracious and sent this gorgeous email, and we’re buddies and it’s all coo. Please, I mean I’ve only benefited from it!”
So basically Ms. Dazeem is not only kind of an awesome person, but she’s smart and recognizes that the endless GIF-ing only serves as solid and effortless career promotion.
While I adore Idina, I admit I cringed a couple of times during her Oscar performance because of issues with tempo and screaming those last few notes and what not. Because I know she’s wick-ed-ly talented, I did what anyone else would do: I blamed John Travolta. Turns out my snark is on-point, because she kinda does too:
”I had all of these visuals set for myself, the meditations. But [Travolta's intro] threw me for a minute. But then I just got back on track and reminded myself of where I was, and what a beautiful moment it was.”
Now even I can applaud that, or my name isn’t Catriona Hufflepuff.
