Cate Blanchett And Amy Adams Got Tattoos After The Oscars, In Case You Need A New BFFship To Obsess Over

Cate Blanchett Amy Adams Oscars March 2014

Quick, somebody sound the celebrity BFF alarm, because it’s time to induct Cate Blanchett and Amy Adams into the hall of fame. On Monday after the Oscars, Cate and Amy were photographed at Shamrock Social Club tattoo parlor in Hollywood. Cate’s hubby Andrew Upton was there too, as was Amy’s fiancĂ© Darren Le Gallo. AKA they went out on a double date to get tattoos. Once I get past my bitterness over not being invited, I’m pretty sure I’m going to be obsessed with this. What should their BFF name be? Camy? Bladams? We’ll work on that.

Darren left the parlor with a white bandage on his arm, and Cate had a black bandage on her wrist. It’s not certain whether Amy got inked too, but I’m really hoping she did, and that she and Cate got tattoos of each other’s names. I should remind you that Cate and Amy were both nominated in the Best Actress category at the ceremony, but Cate ended up taking home the gold. Between this and those photos of Lupita Nygon’o and Jennifer Lawrence pretending to fight over the Supporting Actress Oscar, we might finally put those pesky “catfight” stereotypes about Hollywood actresses to rest. Sometimes women in the same field who are at similar levels of success can actually get along. Crazy, right?

The NY Daily News points out that both Cate and Amy were close to the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, having both co-starred with him. They also both said some really moving things about him recently, Cate in her BAFTA acceptance speech and Amy on Inside the Actors Studio. So perhaps the tattoos were some sort of tribute to him. That would be really touching, but either way it’s nice to know that we have a new famous BFFship to look out for in the future. Is it too early to pitch a Thelma and Louise style roadtrip movie to them? Yes? No? Maybe so?
