There’s a new sign that Miley Cyrus might be going a little overboard with her crazy onstage shenanigans. Apparently all those times we’ve said it distracts from her music, we were right. It even distracts her, to the point that she needs a teleprompter in front of her on her Bangerz tour to remind her of the lyrics to her songs. Radar Online obtained a photo from a fan who was at Miley’s Las Vegas concert over the weekend. It shows a teleprompter at the front of the stage. Apparently Miley really needed it, too.
“And it’s not like they were just there for nothing — I caught her looking at them more than a few times!”
I think when you get to the point that the non-singing portion of your concert takes up more of your brain power than the singing portion, it’s time to rein things in a little bit. From what I’ve been hearing about this tour, it seems to be about hot dog riding first and being a musician second. I mean, have you ever tried riding a hot dog and singing at the same time? I’d imagine it’s a lot like rubbing your tummy and patting your head, or maybe walking and chewing a stranger’s thong at the same time.
It sounds like Miley avoided lip-syncing, however, since the concertgoer who saw the teleprompter added that Miley “didn’t sound great.” I’m sure cutting back on simulating masturbation in front of a crowd would probably help her sound as well as her concentration. It’s great that she wants to put on a show, but remember when concerts were about focusing on the music? Apparently now artists are so unfocused on the music they can’t be bothered to remember the lyrics to their own songs. I mean, if I can get the lyrics to “Wrecking Ball” correct while singing it in the shower, I’d hope the woman who sings that song would get them correct as well.
One thing’s for sure, though. If she really does need the teleprompter, let’s hope she’s at least better at reading it than John Travolta is.
