Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so I can think of no better time to start strolling down Hollywood memory lane, thinking of our favorite couples over the years. But since we are still a couple days out from the big day itself, let’s stick to non-romantic pairings. That way we can keep at least keep the pressure off for a few more days, until it’s time for you to make those dinner reservations you’re invariably gonna space on.
So today we reflect on that most annoying of words but glorious of concepts…the bromance. When two dudes with approximately the same level of celebrity like to hang out with each other in real life, and not just on movie sets. It happens more than you think, but it’s still a wonderful, beautiful moment. Please observe.
1. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon
Matt and Ben were the original bromance, actually getting famous together by writing and starring in Good Will Hunting. They don’t see each other as much now, since they both have wives and kids, but the force is strong in these two.
2. Will Arnett and Jason Bateman
After fostering a friendship through years of filming Arrested Development together, Will and Jason are finally free to walk the streets of New York City hand-in-hand, just as was always intended.
3. Seth Rogen and James Franco
No offense to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West or anything, but I actually think Seth and James had way more chemistry in the spoof of ‘Bound 2′ than you guys had in the original.
4. George Clooney and Brad Pitt

George has said he never needs to have kids, because any time he has the slightest inkling to hang out with a small person, he just goes over to the Jolie-Pitt house and gets his fill in like twenty-five seconds. That’s what friends are for, right?
5. Jon Hamm and Adam Scott
For some reason I wouldn’t automatically pick these two out as a besties perfect match, but they keep working together on fun projects and giving adorable interviews about the other one, so I guess they make it work!
6. Donald Faison and Zach Braff

They found bro-love working together on Scrubs, and they’ve been pretty much inseparable ever since. Donald even took over a recent AMA that Zach was doing on Reddit, to hilarious results.
7. Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch
I mean, when you work in such close quarters as Sherlock Holmes and John Watson for three seasons and then follow it up with an entire Hobbit film shoot, you’re bound to get pretty tight. But since it pays off for me in excellent chemistry in Sherlock, you will absolutely not hear me complaining.
8. Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio
These two fellas have been friends since they were kids, so please try not to hold The Great Gatsby against them, no matter how disappointing you found it. (Hopefully very, if you and I are ever going to be good friends.)
9. Kanye West and Jay Z
These two were all set up to be the bromance of the century, even making a full album together, but then Kim Kardashian came along and ruined everything by not getting along well enough with Beyonce. You had ONE JOB, Kim.
10. Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake
These two are so tight by this point, they won’t even go on Saturday Night Live without each other as security blankets. Rarely seen apart, particularly during TimberWeek.
11. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson
Matthew used to be so laid-back that he could get along with anybody, from Lance Armstrong to Kate Hudson. But now that he’s a Serious Actor, he’s back to his old reliable, Woody, with the two of them joining up for the new HBO series True Detective.
12. Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine
I’ll say probably the best looking bromance on the list? They met filming Star Trek, where that whole cast was apparently well known for having a great time on set, and the party never stopped once the shoot was over! (I immediately hate myself for saying that.)
13. Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart
And finally, my personal favorites, holding it down for the smart funny guys out there, it’s Comedy Central’s best and brightest. I don’t even care that these guys mostly just work together. I have a rich fantasy life in which we all have tea every Sunday.
