7. Anna Kendrick

If anyone’s going to be cast as a young, hip, sarcastic Sherlock Holmes for the CW crowd, it should be Anna Kendrick. She’s great at conveying intelligence and humor with a bit of awkwardness thrown in. And as a bonus, it could be a musical!

Casting Mrs. Weasley as a detective would be so much fun. Don’t even try to deny it. I’m not even a Harry Potter fan and I can acknowledge that.
9. Lena Headey

I really want to see Lena Headey in a faithful period adaptation of Sherlock Holmes, mostly because I like seeing her in frocks on Game of Thrones. I think she could bring the arrogance of Cersei crossed with the softness of her roles in movies like Imagine Me and You.
10. Angela Bassett

If you’ve been watching American Horror Story: Coven, you know that Angela Bassett has got more confidence and cunning than all of us normals combined. Plus, it would be nice to take Helen Mirren’s advice and cast a woman of color in the role.
11. Tilda Swinton

I can imagine Tilda Swinton playing Sherlock in some sort of futuristic sci-fi version of the stories where the character is an alien. Since Tilda herself is an alien, it wouldn’t be a stretch at all.
12. Glenn Close

I’d love to see Glenn Close play some sort of dark version of Sherlock Holmes who turns out to be a villain. I just can’t get enough of her manipulative characters. As you can see from the photo above, she’s already got the wardrobe.
