Parks and Recreation will air its 100th episode this Thursday night at 8:30 PM on NBC. In preparation for this absolutely amazing TV show milestone (seriously, all my favorite shows seem to die before they reach episode 30), NBC released a delightful video retrospective clocking in at almost 20 minutes in which the cast shares their all-time favorite moments from the show.
What made it so perfect for me is that they pick all my favorite moments. At first I thought maybe this was just because I have impeccable taste. Then I realized that it is definitely because of that, but it’s also because this show has so many classic moments that you can close your eyes and point to one and odds are it’s one of your faves. The show’s in its sixth season now and it remains heartfelt, clever, and good-natured.
As with any series that’s been on this long, it can be easy to take those things for granted, but rewatching these clips and seeing the actors chuckle at what they’ve created with remind you why you love this show. That’s assuming you love it in the first place. If you don’t, I don’t know why you’re here, but I encourage you to watch this video and fall head over heels.
The video has everything you could ask for. It’s got a musical opening from Perd Hadley, a mini-montage of Chris Pratt living up to his name and performing pratfalls, Retta giggling about Jerry’s “fart attack,” Aubrey Plaza giving her interview sitting in a tree and refusing to answer the questions, and Amy Poehler being her usual adorable self. All that, plus you get to relive the glorious montage of all the characters drunk in the Snakehole Lounge. And there are also emotional moments, too. I dare you not to get a little misty-eyed when you see Ben propose to Leslie again.
