This past November, amid rumors that Taylor Swift had decided to get back together with her “ex-boyfriend” Harry Styles, she was also rumored to be dating Douglas Booth, the actor who recently played Romeo opposite Taylor’s underage bestie Hailee Steinfeld. Now The New York Daily News has all the anonymously sourced details about how Taylor tried to pick him up at the West Hollywood Soho House — and then how she miserably she failed at it.
Apparently Taylor kept trying to flirt with Douglas and “looked like an animal circling its prey” (exactly what I’d imagine a flirty Taylor to look like), but he was having none of it and acted “extremely dismissive towards her.”
“She would get a drink and then approach him; she would chat with [actress] Hailee Steinfeld and then re-approach him; she was even trying to chat him up near the flowers on display. It was all very funny for those of us watching,” says our snitch.
Gee, I couldn’t possibly imagine why a guy would be scared off by Taylor Swift. Oh wait, I forgot for a second that I absolutely can imagine that. Taylor has this little thing she likes to do where she writes songs about her boyfriends and then acts as if they cheated on her while they were married with ten children even if all they did was pretend to go on a date in the park. She doesn’t exactly make being her girlfriend look fun. Sure there’s the free publicity if you’re an up-and-comer, and you probably get to eat a lot of homemade cookies. But is it really worth it when for years to come at every award show they’ll cut to your reaction when she says something cryptic about how much boys suck?
Apparently Douglas did give Taylor a little bit of a chance, since they were later spotted together in London, but his friend says he’s just not that into her now:
“Doug is a young guy and is enjoying the single life,” says his pal. “He was quite taken aback about how keen Taylor was. She has been in touch with him, but he just wants to be friends.”
