Selena Gomez Cancels Tour Suddenly, Statement Hints At Some Kind Of Rehab

Selena Gomez red carpet black dressIn an incredibly surprising move, Selena Gomez released a statement last night that she would be canceling the final leg of her Stars Dance tour because she needs some me time. Considering the fact that the tour started in August and that she only had 13 more cities to go, this doesn’t seem right. While her statement attempts to explain it away, there’s clearly a lot going on behind the scenes that we don’t know about.

Billboard has it via Live Nation in full:

“My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them,” comments Gomez in a statement issued by promoter Live Nation. “But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be. To my fans, I sincerely apologize and I hope you guys know how much each and every one of you mean to me.”

Even though I’m obviously not in the music industry nor aware of how it all works, I would guess that a lot of people stand to lose a lot of money from this cancellation. Venues are booked, tickets are bought, flights are paid for — the list could go on and on with all the things that must now be figured out financially. The music industry’s many things, but I don’t think they’ve ever put a performer’s personal needs before money. Which is why this cancellation’s about a lot more than what this statement claims.

Pure speculation makes me want to say that she’s taking some kind of trip to some kind of rehab. Again, let me stress, that’s not a fact but just a guess on my end as to what’s going on. And if that it is the case, it’s good for her. She clearly realized that she had a problem and that she had to address it. Sure it won’t be good for her squeaky clean image, but her best friend Demi Lovato proves that you can come out the other end stronger than ever.
