Ever since celebrities started using Twitter, the world has been a much more entertaining place. Whether the celebrities are naturally funny people who enjoy making witty jokes and posting goofy pictures or unintentionally funny people who post ridiculous thoughts and over-the-top selfies, there’s a lot of fun to be had by stalking famous people’s Twitter accounts.
So many stars are on social media now that it’s shocking to come across one who isn’t. If I had a nickel for every time I typed a celebrity’s name into the Twitter search bar only to learn they don’t have an account, I’d have a lot of nickels. At least sixteen nickels, as shown by this here post. I really wish these people would join Twitter, if only for a day, so I could feel just the tiniest bit closer to being their friend. Some of them have stated they don’t want to join Twitter for privacy reasons, and I respect that. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want it to happen.
1. Tiny Fey
Every time I see an interview with Tina Fey, even if it’s just five seconds long, she makes me laugh. Imagine if she tweeted a joke a day. Everyone’s days would immediately be ten times brighter. Twitter CEO Dick Costolo even stated she’s one of the top three celebs he most wants to join the site, right alongside the next lady on this list…
2. Amy Poehler
You can’t have Tina without Amy. It just wouldn’t be fair, to them or to us. Amy Poehler actually just said in an interview with Paper Magazine that she’s tired of all the Instagram selfies and lack of privacy involved in social media. But we just want your wise and witty words, Ms. Poehler!
3. Emma Stone
Emma actually did have an account for a while that she rarely updated, and it even got hacked and sent a weird anagram at one point. Now it’s gone and her handle is being used by an imposter. Come back to us, Emma!
4. Benedict Cumberbatch
Benedict recently did a Twitter Q&A on the Hobbit account and gave hilarious answers. Please get this man an account so we can imagine every tweet in that voice of his.
5. Jennifer Lawrence
She might be getting a little overexposed and attracting some backlash lately, so a Twitter account is probably the last thing she needs. But how fun would it be to read her tweets? It would be like a livestream of down-to-earth interviews.
It can be both of them separately or one or the other or they can share an account. Either way, they need a social media presence. How else are we supposed to overanalyze and conspiracy theorize about their relationship/lack thereof?
7. Tilda Swinton
There’s already an amazing parody account in existence for Tilda Swinton that you should check out immediately. My greatest hope is that one day Tilda will reveal that it’s actually not a parody and she does have a bat named Theremiah Swinton. But if that’s not the case, I would like to witness her actual weirdness anyway.
8. Bruce Jenner
Everyone else in the Kardashian klan has an account, so why hasn’t Bruce joined? By that I mean, why hasn’t Kris Jenner forced him to join? I imagine if he did join and tweeted on his own, every tweet would be some form of “HELP ME.”
