Last night’s live Sound of Music was everything I hoped for in a televised trainwreck and then some. The then some being Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s first Golden Globes promo. The unexpected surprise landed smack dab in the middle of Carrie Underwood’s adorable ‘lil attempt at acting.
One second I’m watching a Nazi Arts Festival and the next I’m watching our two favorite gal pals talking about their opening song for the awards show. To say I freaked out would be an understatement. I literally jumped off my couch, grabbed my spare microphone and started belting out my new version of “My Favorite Things.” While I don’t remember all the lyrics, the chorus did go something like this: ”when the acting sucks, when the sound’s off, when the set’s not even trying, I simply remember Tina and Amy are hosting again and then I don’t feel so bad.”
Even though the promo didn’t reveal much (like which fake movies they would be promoting this year), it did remind me just how much fun they are to watch together. And how excited I am to get the 2014 awards season started. Especially now that I know The Sound of Music proved itself to be a strong contender in, um, every single category — including, but not limited to “bold move NBC” and “best use of stairs.”
