As you’ve probably heard by now, actor Paul Walker died in a tragic accident yesterday. More details have emerged in the hours following the accident, and his publicist confirmed his death in a statement on Paul Walker’s Twitter account:
“It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide,” the statement read. “He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news.”
The car crash that killed Walker, who was a passenger in the vehicle, and allegedly the driver as well, occurred about 3:30 p.m. yesterday. Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s station and the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived to find a vehicle engulfed in flames. There really isn’t much more to say; it’s truly tragic news and writing about it has made my heart a little heavier today. I, too, fell for him the first time I saw Pleasantville. There was genuine talent there, and now we’ll never know what more he was capable of.
Vin Diesel, who starred alongside Walker in The Fast and the Furious franchise films, took to his Instagram account today to share his feelings on the loss of his co-star and friend:
I’m sure we’ll be hearing from more people who loved and respected Paul in the days to come. So sad.
