16 Former Dancing With The Stars Contestants Who Already Knew How to Dance

8. Lance Bass

Please refer to Joey Fatone’s entry on this list and apply everything I said to Lance. Except the second place thing. Lance only made it to third, which is still pretty impressive.

9. Nicole Scherzinger

Everyone and their mother saw Nicole shaking her booty in the video for The Pussycat Dolls’ “Don’t Cha.” That certainly helped her shake her booty to first place in season ten.

Nobody puts Baby in a corner, and that includes on Dancing With the Stars. Is it any surprise that the lady who learned to dance with Patrick Swayze won first place in a dancing competition? No. It’s not.

11. Dorothy Hamill

Another figure skater. I speculated that she came in twelfth place because she’s been retired for some time, but as someone pointed out in the comments, it was actually because she dropped out due to injury.

12. Zendaya

Zendaya(WENN.com)

Disney Channel star and budding pop singer Zendaya has experience dancing for TV and music videos, so it makes sense that she’d get to second place on this show. I mean, she played a background dancer on Shake It Up!

13. Christina Milian

Everyone remembers that “Dip It Low” song and the dance-tastic video that went with it, Christina. You only made it to ninth place this season, but we’ve established that you know how to “pop that thing,” so…

14. Elizabeth Berkley

Elizabeth Berkley had legit dance training when she was a kid and even starred in a production of Swan Lake. She only made it to sixth place this season but still… THAT’S NOT FAIR!

15. Corbin Bleu

Remember a little movie called High School Musical that featured Corbin dancing around a basketball court? I sure do. Corbin is so well-trained in dance that he had to help his partner Karina choreograph one of their numbers because he was more experienced in jazz. I’m sorry… what? He naturally made it to second place.

This is one of the many problems i have with this show. See also; Melissa Rycroft. She was a freaking Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader! I’m not ashamed to admit I’ve spent a Friday night or two watching a marathon of the making the squad show. On top of ludicrously hard dances and impossible flexibility expectations, all the ladies are expected to look like freaking goddesses the entire time. COUNT IT, while she is as cute as a button, she certainly has the dance experience to warrant her third place finish and then eventual all stars WIN!

Good point. The athletes in general also always seem to have an advantage.

    • gussie

I disagree with all of this. you may as well say that actors have an advantage because they can sell their performance. no one has an advantage in this competition.

DWTS has never been about celebrities with no dance experience. I don’t know where people get that from. DWTS is a show that is about introducing celebrities to ballroom dancing. none of the celebrities had ballroom experience.

    • Alexis Rhiannon

It seems weird though, because some of the contestants don’t have ANY dance experience. So you know at the beginning of the season who’s probably gonna win.

    • gussie

that is not always true. I am sure that no one expected Kelly Monaco to win season 1 when joe McIntyre had dance experience, no one expected emmitt smith to win against Mario lopez who had dance experience, no one expected drew lachey to win against Stacey kiebler she had more dance experience than he did or Kelly pickler to win against zendaya, or brooke charvet to win against lance bass or apolo anton ohno to win against joey fatone, or Donny Osmond against mya. I can go on and on. dance experience means nothing in this competition. you pretty much have to unlearn everything that you know. some celebrities have natural rhythm for example, gilles marini, and William levy

Dorothy Hamill came in 12th place for her season because she had to withdraw from the competition due to health reasons (nerve damage in her right leg and back). Your inference that her “low finish” was due to having been retired so long shows you didn’t thoroughly do your research before writing this piece.

    • Jill O’Rourke

You’re very right. Thank you for pointing that out.
